Perl Scripting
by davdunc 09 Apr '04

09 Apr '04

Can anyone give me a pointer or two on using perl scripts with 2.7.0? Even as external methods. I was hoping to impress my boss with some forms and stuff, but I have a bunch of logic written in Perl that makes it difficult to do a rewrite in any sort of timely way. I tried zoperl with pyperl and ZShelScripts, but I have had no luck configuring either. Anyone else find this easy to do? TIA, David Duncan Zope Wannabe

Hello, I'm trying to install CPSSkins on Plone 2, but it requires PortalContentFolder type to be installed and available. I tried to follow the installation instructions, but (me dumb) I cannot find where should I position the object to be available in "Factory-based Type Information" list (as stated on the readme file found here: <http://zope.org/Members/efge/PortalContentFolder/README.txt/document_view> Thanks for any help. - fabrizio

Versions
by Ian 09 Apr '04

09 Apr '04

Hello, Currently I have the following versions: Python 2.1.3 Zope 2.6.1 CMF 1.3.1 Plone 1.0.3 They work fine together, but I would like to upgrade. I remember that some time ago it was a big problem to find the working combination of different versions of these four products. I'm asking for a professional's advice. How do the latest versions of Python, Zope, CMF and Plone work together and how stable are they? What is the best combination of the versions? Thanks in advance. METAL question: relative reference to a macro defined in the same file
by Johan Carlsson 09 Apr '04

09 Apr '04

Is it possible to refer to a macro defined in the same file in a use-macro statement? Using: <div metal:use-macro="template/macros/render_fields"/> doesn't work because template is the main template called not necessary the one containing the macro and the use-macro. Using: <div metal:use-macro="here/pat/to/the/file/macros/render_fields"/> does work but if I move the file I need to change the content, and that's bade maintainability in my book :-) Regards, Johan -- Johan Carlsson Tel: + 46 8 31 24 94 Colliberty Mob: + 46 70 558 25 24 Torsgatan 72 Email: johanc(a)easypublisher.com SE-113 37 STOCKHOLM Skype: colliberty

AutoLance fails to restart Zope 2.7.0 (or is it me?)
by Paul Howell 09 Apr '04

09 Apr '04

Hi Chris, At the Plone conference you brought up using AutoLance to restart Zope if RAM usage exceeds set limits (or other system limits are reached). I just got and tried AutoLance on a server (Zope 2.7.0 and Plone 2.0) and AutoLance shutdown at the right RAM usage level, but didn't email me and didn't restart either. Could it need an upgrade for 2.7.0? The product's actual restart calls ZServer.clean_shutdown with restart=1... is that still the correct approach with 2.7.0? I'm running one system that is RAM limited and this product would be very helpful. =Paul ps. So how did this product get its name?

python method calling template page
by jon cashman 09 Apr '04

09 Apr '04

Here's another newbie question. Can anyone out there answer? Thanks! How do you call a template page within a Python external method? According to the Zope Book, there is an example where the Python method ends with: return context.responseTemplate() What method is this? How do I set it? This is not explained in the book. Also, I guess it's true that in the same example: return context.formTemplate() calls the page template that called this Python method. Again thanks for your time!!! - jon _________________________________________________________________ Watch LIVE baseball games on your computer with MLB.TV, included with MSN Premium! http://join.msn.com/?page=features/mlb&pgmarket=en-us/go/onm00200439ave/dir…

MFolder Traversal Question & Acquisition
by John Wubbel 09 Apr '04

09 Apr '04

Hi, I am trying to get a better understanding of Dr. Dieter Maurer's MFolder product and was wondering if anyone could comment on this inquiry? In the python script it states "Mirrowing folder allows to mirror one subfolder *M* to be seen (through acquisition) in the other subfolders" and my question is: Is the requested traversal of the mirrowing folder that leads to object *oa* whereby object *om* is obtained by traversing along the maximal prefix of *P*, where the term maximal means the element we are looking for is followed by no other. So for example, as long as my folder structure looks as follows from the root: M/registration <--- where there resides *oa* or MirrowId__showme and M/registration/en/registration <-- is where I expect *om* url /M/registration/en/registration/showme this seems to work fine. However, given the next case where I add M/crossover the traversal where I would expect to see the *om* of *oa* in M/crossover does not seem to work. My thinking was that acquisition is suppose to work on the entire object hierarchy. I am trying to learn if I need to write some logic at this point or reorganize my folder structure. In my real ZMI I have the following: root SD_Library/PublicationFolder/Intro where Intro contains DTML Doc /ACS/ contains Best Practice doc /AIRI/ contains another Best Practice doc CustomerA/PubFolder/ACS whereby I want to mirror the Best Practice docs only, even though the ../PublicationFolder/ACS folder contains several other documents. So acquisition traverses up to the root. Is there no way to have it search down the SD_Library path? If there is a way I would like hearing suggestions such as possibly configuring a DTML Method to contextually mirror the document. The /ACS/Best Practices document is going to be reviewed and updated every 6 months and should reside in the digital library area so whenever Customer A, B, or C logs on they should see the current BP docs. A copy should not be kept in the CustomerX/PubFolder/ACS container. TIA for the help. John Wubbel

Failed domain controller has killed my site
by Paul Smith 08 Apr '04

08 Apr '04

Hi, I've been happily using exUserFolder for ages, but today it's screwed my site completely. We have been authenticating against a domain controller, but this has died today, and as a result, I can no longer access the folders in which the XUF user folder had 'control', and therefore can't access the XUF to change DC... I've tried as an emergency user, but that just throws: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: _getCacheableDict for accessing any folders below the XUF Anyone _any_ ideas on how to fix this? I've got a lot of annoyed users at the moment... We're using Zope 2.6.2, and exUserFolder latest build on Linux.
