Hello zope, I want to measure the time of process in Zope. sd=context.ZopeTime() ... se=context.ZopeTime() d=se-sd print str(DateTime(str(sd)) print str(DateTime(str(se)) it is working, so it is show the two datetimes. It look slike I'm going to become very interested in this myself soon. Although XML-RPC is nice, with the advent of .NET and so on, there's much higher demand for SOAP (Or at least that's what we're anticipating). Someday, I'd like to mimic the way XML-RPC is handled inside Zope, but use either SOAPpy or ZSI to use SOAP instead. Anybody know how hard this might be ? I also sometimes wonder if I should wait for Zope 3, which from what I can tell should make this much easier ... Unfortunately Zope 3 isn't quite here yet, and even then, I may no tbe ready to migrate to it for a while (I depend on aquisition!) It's pretty amazing there hasn't been more movement on this front ... Zope's architecture makes web services so potentially easy to put together ... Struggle to edit dtml in textarea

For some reason if I do the following: <textarea name="col1" rows="30" cols="120" ><dtml-var expr="_.getitem('1_col',0)" html_quote></textarea> I can edit the html but all dtml is interpreted. I am trying to build a dtml page with which I can edit other pages: 1. Any recommendations on how to do this? (example of document_src in dtml?) 2. How do then overwrite the previous page with the edited code? Thanks, Pieter

multiple zopes

Hi. I'm going to share a Plone 2 / Zope 2.7.0 install with multiple administrators. We want our data and acl_users to be separate from each other (although we would all be happy with the same selection of Zope add-on products). If my Zope hangs, the other administrators and their users should not be affected. What is the best way to do this? Is anyone doing it already? Zope as a SOAP server even possible?

Hello, I've been searching the net for information about Zope and SOAP, and I've found a lot of different answers. Is it even possible to create SOAP web services and publish them with Zope? Is it hard? Which tools do I need to do this? The reason I ask this is because I'm involved in a project where the application server is to be using web services, and I'm trying to make them concider Zope as an alternative to J2EE or .NET..... -Petter-

unit testing and committing transactions

I'm trying to start introducing some unit tests to a large body of of code. The project is somewhat interdependent - I have to create a Zope.app() in order to instantiate a lot of what I'm testing. Because of this, I'm lowering my expectations, aiming for a regression test suite, and hoping that subsets of it can be used in a more unit testing manner. My current problem is that transactions will be committed during the instantiation of some of the classes that I'm trying to test, making it hard for me to get a clean slate each time. My solution is to create a new DemoStorage to be loaded from custom_zodb in the Testing module, and calling Zope.App.startup.startup() manually (since it won't be called more than once by default). This works so far, but it's inefficient, and requires some slight knowledge of the storage being used. Is this a good idea? Is there a better way? The fragment below illustrates what I'm doing. I'm commit()ing manually as a demonstration, which would cause the second setUp() to complain about the existing object without a new storage being made. def makeNewDB(): """ Overwrite the custom_zodb DemoStorage with a new one, then call startup to make a new DB. Heh, I found the problem: The MailHost instance should not be called "MailHost" ! As soon as I renamed it, everything started working OK ... I'll file this as a bug if it's not done already ... Dennis, This is in direct correlation with the check interval suggestion I made. In your search, you will find that on SMTP systems, tweaking the check interval can help things, precisely because of the GIL.
