Hi all, I have 2 sqlmethods foo and bar then i have a python script ----------------------- x=int(myx) mylist=[] for result in context.foo: mylist.append(result) if x == 2: for result in context.bar: mylist.append(result) return mylist ----------------------- what i want to do is sort this list by a field eg. mylist.sort('fieldname') but obviously the sort function dose not work like that -- -tim zegir

OT: ZMySQLDA status

Hi lads and ladies - I'm curious as to the status of the ZMySQLDA product. I've ran into the well documented bug regarding the server_capabilities attribute. However the (seemingly) latest version available on zope.org (via http://www.zope.org/Members/adustman/Products/ZMySQLDA) still has this problem. Is that not the proper place to get the product, or is it no longer actively maintained? -jim

ZODB limits

Well Zope corporation has experience of tens gigabytes of data in FileStorage ( Data.fs ) in ZEO enviroment, so that shouldn't be the main issue. Larger issue is how fast your system will be for uplaoding and downloading the data from ZODB. Zope sucks big rocks in handling big files, so that might bring your system down or force you to bring in more machines into cluster - or move storing and serving large files outside ZODB. -- -huima

Zope 2.7.0RC1 - Special behaviour of the help system

Hello, Just after a fresh installation of windows binaries of 2.7.0rc1 running on windows XP as a windows service Without ANY modifications i got the strange behaviour described below. I first tried to read Zcatalog's help. All links are of the form below http://localhost:8080/Control_Panel/Products/ZCatalog/Help/THE_DOCUMENT/man… so wheni click on a link Zcatalog Product's properties are displayed. Here is a list of available documents in http://localhost:8080/Control_Panel/Products/ZCatalog/Help/. If it doesn't it will get acquired from the context (probably the folder above in your case) and the file gets created there. Does LocalFS support adding files from the Zope side? Perhaps it has its own API different from manage_addFile? If it doesn't, you could just write a simple external method which created the file in the proper place directly. Something like: import os.path def writeFile(filename, data): open(os.path.join('/path/to/localfs/dir', filename), 'wb').write(data) Obviously you'd want to make sure you secure the external method so it is not directly callable through the web by everyone. > Any help would be appreciated > > IS APE ready for production use? I am writing a custom product and would like to make use of the URL string to do some cool stuff. When writing a "Python Script" there is a handy variable called traverse_subpath that contains the elements of the URL to the right of the name of the script itself. However, Zope tends to raise an exception when I attempt this technique with other types of objects, namely the objects created with my custom product code. For example: http://www.mysite.com/myPythonScript/extra/stuff works fine, and I have access to a handy list like ['extra', 'stuff'] http://www.mysite.com/myCustomObject/extra/stuff raises an error, something like: Zope has encountered a problem publishing your object. Is there a quick trick to incorporate traverse_subpath functionality into my product? Thanks!

Undo Python Script

Hello Zopers! I'm currently writing a script that adds some ExtFiles and then execute an external method. Here's the script [Script1]: context.data['0002']['folder1'].manage_addProduct['ExtFile'].manage_addE xtFile(id='1', title='file1', file=file1) context.data['0002']['folder1'].manage_addProduct['ExtFile'].manage_addE xtFile(id='2', title='file2', file=file2) context.data['0002']['folder1'].manage_addProduct['ExtFile'].manage_addE xtFile(id='3', title='file3', file=file3) context.runExternalMethod(params) return 'OK' When the external method causes NO errors, the Extfiles are made. But when the Extrenal method causes an error, zope shows up the standard_error_message and the ExtFiles are not made..... I then executed the script from another script [Script2]: try: context.Script1() except: return 'ERROR' else: return 'OK!' When Script1 causes an error (from the extrernal method) the extfiles are made. Zope shows 'ERROR'. Why does this happen. When I execute Script1 from Script2 without try-except the extfiles are not made when the script causes an error... What must i add to undo all actions made in Script1? Thanks for the support! importing pdflib_py

Hey, there! I'm not really a newbie, but I seem to have gotten in over my head by trying to import pdflib_py to generate pdf files from inside a script. ( http://www.pdflib.com ) Here is the situation: my Zope site is hosted by an ISP who does not allow shell access. This makes developing external methods impossible. They are willing to install custom Products and such after reviewing the code. We've gotten as far as compiling and installing the pdflib_py.so so that Zope's python interpreter can access it. We've set up the allow_access('pdflib_py') stuff, but still get a Zope error: "from pdflib_py import *" is not allowed. According to an article from 2001, I now need to create a Product. (http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-pyzo.html) The Zope Book and Developer's Guide each go into the creation of Products. It feels like I've taken a wrong turn. I don't want a complete Product with the ability to add it through the ZMI. I just want to access the functions in a library from a zope script. Which way do I go next? Thanks! Blossom
