Jon Udell To Give Keynote At Zope Track Digital Creations will be hosting a Zope Track at the 8th International Python Conference. The Zope Track will feature a keynote speech by the former senior editor at Byte magazine, Jon Udell. He is also the author of several O'Reilly books and a frequent contributor to leading industry publications. Jon will be discussing reusable web content models. The Zope Track will also cover subjects of interest to Zope users and developers of all proficiencies, offer an opportunity to meet the folks at DC, and to put faces to the names seen in the Zope community. Attendees will come away with a free t-shirt, CD-ROM and bound copies of the Zope guides. Jon Udell will be speaking on Tuesday, January 25. The conference runs from the 24th to the 26th. disable page cacheing

How do stop a page from being cached in either the browser or with Zope? I have added a meta tag like <META http-equiv="EXPIRES" CONTENT="31 Dec 99">, but it doesn't do anything so I think the page is being cached from zope somehow. Thanks

Zope 2.1.0 final has been released. This release includes many bug fixes, performance and reliability improvements and a number of new features since 2.0.1, including the beginnings of internationalization support, FastCGI support and relevance ranking for ZCatalog. We recently had to rebuild the binaries for the linux dist. (for all of them actually, to make sure that _localemodule was included by default). At the time, I didn't realize that the dev. machine had been "upgraded" to glibc2.1 :( The upshot is that the linux binary currently on the website is currently only usable for RH 6.0 users. If you _must_ upgrade before Monday and you are on 5.x, you will want to get the source distribution and build it yourself. Monday we will get the binaries for the linux binary dist. rebuilt on a 5.x machine and do some testing. Then I'll update the release on the site and we'll hopefully have a binary that's good for both 5.x and 6.x. Zope and Microsoft Integrate Using Web Standards

Class variables in ZClasses

The following quote is taken from lstaffor's ZClass Properties HOW-TO: http://www.zope.org/Members/lstaffor/zProperties ----- In the field of object-orientented programming, the terms "class variables" and "instance variables" are often used for the data structures that are common to all methods of a class or of an object that is an instance of that class. ... For example, you may want a given data item to be a constant that is shared by all instances; the constant can be changed only by changing the class definition. ---- I'm confused about how class variables are implemented in Zope. For example, let's say I have a ZClass with instance variable "Subject" which is a list of keys into a dictionary "SubjectChoices". Rather than every instance maintaining a separate copy, SubjectChoices should be a class variable - all instances see the same dictionary. Any insights would be most appreciated. manage_edit

Problem Installing with FastCgi

Hi, I am having problem installing Zope 2.1.0 along apache 1.3.9 using FastCg on Linuxi. I followed the instructions step by step, got the FastCgi SnapShot and did everything as told.... Zope is running using ZServer and is accessible on its own port (is this correct when I intend to run it through FastCgi???), it creates the sock-file. The sock-file was created by Zope with rwx-permission to everyone, so I guess Apache can read it. I reconfigured Apache and fastcgi starts up as to the logs. When I try to access zope through apache I get a misconfig-error in the browser and the http.error.log says: [Fri Dec 3 17:30:29 1999] [error] [client 212.14.64.240] (111)connection refused: FastCGI: failed to connect to server "/serve/web/testzope": connect() failed What can be the reason for this??
