Ok, i thought I had a fairly decent grasp of Acquisition, but mehtinks I need to rethink that theory. Situation: I have a folder: /Styles in the root folder. In this folder are stylesheets. These stylesheets use dtml variables for certain things, ie. ... color: ; ... The main folder has this property defined, and all works. The stylesheet is referenced by: <link href=Styles/primary rel=stylesheet type="text/css"> in the standard header. Now comes the confusion, I thought that if under a subfolder, say /Home, if would use the main folder's properties, unless I defined the variables in that folder's properties tab. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work that way. If I define MainTextColor on the propertysheet for /Home, nothing changes. If I copy the /Styles to /Home, it works, but that isn't what I am after. What, if anything, am I misunderstanding. (Zope2, ZODB3) Bill Anderson

Moving A Product to a new database

OK, I must be missing something. I have a product I have created (with lots of ZClasses), which I wanted to move to a new "clean" database (the one that came with beta1). Any tag expression is evaluated as a Python expression, and Python only allows '=' as a statement. 2. People would be tempted to create new properties this way, which would fail since there's no way to specify the property type. Hack the call tag to check for '=' in an expression and convert it (Yech). 3. Use an external method. (WARNING: You can accidentally bypass the property type system this way!)

"this" inside rendered DTML Method

Question: Inside a DTML Method "foo" being included (through #var) in an DTML Document "bar", what should the "this" function evaluate to? foo looks like this:  and bar like this:  I say it should evaluate to the DTML Document. But it seems that it evaluates to the parent folder. It doesn't make sense. How, then, can I access the document including the DTML Method? Exactly. Which means if you're going to follow the letter of the law, a license for Oracle Developer Edition may be required. (I'm not familiar with Oracle's licensing policies though. Maybe there is such a thing as a "developer license" for using these libraries.) You need the OCI distribution and/or an Oracle installation, or at least the include and lib files that comes with them.
