Oracle DA installation...

Hi. I grabbed the Oracle DA from the Zope site and attempted to install it on my machine for use. It balked at the 'make' step (step 3 I think in the instructions) complaining about not finding 'ociapr.h'. Is there something that needs to be installed first before I can build the Oracle DA? Ryan

Showstopper: need very basic help with Zope2 persistence

Hi, I'm using Zope2 and am trying to get Persistence working for the first time by creating an object store. I'm using the documentation: http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Reference/ObjectPublishingIntro which has a chunk of code to do a very basic store on a Person. I've tried this code both within and without Zope with no success. I'm wondering whether 1. The code (appended) doesn't work for Zope2? When ExternalMethod->Add'ed into Zope, I get: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. exceptions.AttributeError Sorry, a Zope error occurred. It turns out that, at least for my installation, I have to replace -tli with -tinsck. If this isn't done, it won't find the bsd_tcp symbol. The installation instructions in src/INSTALL for putting ctsybasemodule in Modules\Setup are correct (note that it doesn't mention that you have to copy the source files (dbi.* and ctsybasemodule.*) into the Modules directory, this may confuse newbies). It seems you don't actually have to run make on in the src directory, as the ctsybasemodule must be recompiled as part of the Python module compilation anyway. Another curiosity: The compilation command line is _correct_ in src/INSTALL -- it refers to libinsck.so, not libtli.so -- but incorrect in the makefile (which does refer to libtli.so). Curiosities abound: If the connection open operation fails in db.py, it will report "Invalid connection string". For me, the module initially failed at line 182, and this had little to do with the connection string itself; it was Sybase denying access to the database, as I had not granted access to the specified user. Emitting the actual Sybase error tuple would have been better. Compiling Sybase module -- missing libtli.so, anybody have it? UR GENT! GENT!

Compiling ctsybasemodule.so (in the Zope Sybase module) I get an error about libtli.so missing. If I exclude this library from the compilation, ctsybasemodule.so complains about a missing bsd_tcp symbol. Funny thing is, the library isn't in the Sybase ASE 11.0.3 RPM distribution. Problem with External Method Tutorial: Invisible Objects

Hi! I was running through the External Method Tutorial at http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Reference/ExternalMethods I created the addPlayHouse external method, and added it to a Zope folder called Test. I called addPlayHouse like this: http://orwell:9673/Test/addPlayHouse?id=myHouse. It told me that it had added the PlayHouse successfully, and my PlayHouse module had been compiled, so I'm assuming Zope imported it. However, when I try to access my PlayHouse at the URL http://orwell:9673/Test/myHouse, I get a "Resource Not Found" message. However, I can export myHouse to a file. and running 'strings' on that file gives me loads of references to "PlayHouse". My web server (orwell) is running Linux/x86 2.2.10 with Python 1.5.2 (the version packaged in Debian potato), and Zope 2.0a4. I'm running Zope with the command line "python z2.py -d 172.16.0.217", and I'm using ZDaemon (sp?), not Apache. Help with Zope2 persistence?

Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible to use Zope persistence outside of Zope for testing. I copied the code from the Persistence section of http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Reference/ObjectPublishingIntro I also tried a variety of variations on BoboPOS.Persistent according to a comment recently made by Michel: Actually, Persistence.Persistent. BoboPOS will work but it's not 'the way'. It's legacy. So, I've gotten it to "from Persistence import Persistent" and to inherit, but I don't know what the correct invocation is to create the database. BoboPOS.PickleDictionary(), and Persistent.PickleDictionary() don't work. I've been perusing code for an example of something which seems to create a DB from scratch, but the only one I found I know this is a newbie question, but if someone has a complete sample code analogous to the following, I'd be very thankful for the insight. Ideally, it would work outside Zope (getting all the imports correct, if possible), but just working within Zope would be nice too. The "has_key" method seems to be a missing link too. That method doesn't seem to exist in the objects I was guessing were my DB objects. I'd like to know how to do that test using Zope2 code. (I hope this question makes sense.) Just looking for the basics.
