I also had a hard time getting Zope working with apache. After browsing to apache documentation i changed the proposed rewrite rule by exchanging e= with E= the rest was ok on my freebsd box. Then i got an error message that directed me to reconfigure the cgi-bin directory: <Directory "/usr/local/share/apache/cgi-bin"> .... Options ExecCGI .... </Directory>

uploading documents to Zope

Hi, I tired with clicking on 6 different icons to upload a dtml-file which I edited on my local machine. Since I'm not using Zope 2.0 ftp is not an option. I'm thinking of writing a python-script, which does the same as the Netscape-Composer publish-method. I checked urllib.py, but found only examples for retrieving files from the server, same for httplib.py. Could someone point me to documentation how to do this, or is this not possible or to difficult at all? How can you generalize SQL methods ?

Hi I've the following problem: I'd like to have in my "root" folder some general SQL (mysql) methods so that I can call them from the subfolders. I insert here 2 examples of what I'd like to do. 1- Creating a general INSERT query. I tried to create a query resembling the following: INSERT INTO  () values ( -->) where field table_name, field_name, field_value and field_type are arguments for the methon. Naturally this doesn't work. Is there any way to do something like this ? 2- creating a general SELECT query. I'd like to parametrize the name and the number of the fields shown by a SELECT mysql query. Something like SELECT <variable_number_of_fields_of_variable_names> from  where table_name is an argument for the method. I've no ideas about how to implement the variable_number_of_fields_of_variable_names. Is there anyone who can help me (eventually source code examples or links to them will be welcome). I am an American here in Germany who uses Linux, Gimp, Netscape, and emacs on the University of T�bingen to design web pages. I would like to start using Zope and wrote my administrator a Email one month ago asking him to install Zope, but have received no response. I downed loaded it anyway and wanted to try and install Zope on my 'fs listquota' memory in the same way That I down loaded and installed a cd player with 'xmcd' command. But it did not work. Currently I am to poor to buy a PC and install Linux at home. It seems the site in general is tailored to an 800x600 resolution -- which isn't a high resolution by most standards today. Zope suitability

Dear all I don't know if this is right to send a silly question to this list, but I couldn't find any proper place anywhere else. I have recently installed Zope and zserver. I have already developed a complete web site based on Python and Postgresql, Apache. However maintenance might become the bottleneck for me as I am the only one who manages it. I want to redo the whole thing in Zope. I wonder if you can show any light / comments on this. Also can somebody PLEASE give me a clue, where I can find a tutorial on how to use zope and what are the steps. I am really struggling to develop any thing. A beginners tutorial would be great.
