I am trying to get apache to provide password entry to the zope manage section - using windows nt. I have used the apache location directive per the zope documentation. I can get the password entry to work for the main zope site (through the zope.exe, but cannot get entry to work for the manage area exclusively. Export/unload from query

External method: import error

Hi Zopiens! I'll start with one question... is Zope stable to use thus far? Anyway, back to my problem. I have Zap (pre-built Zope with Apache) running on Red Hat 5.2 machine. I also put all my customize Python scripts in the Extensions directory of Zope. Recently I wrote a script file to access a Postgres database and this file is called by other scripts whenever database access is needed. Now I got a problem of "importing" the database script from other scripts. Why so? I have tried to include the Extensions directory in the PYTHONPATH, but it doesn't work. "Add" button is gone in Zope 2

I notice that the folder contents screen has been changed in Zope 2: the "Add" button is gone, and instead the "add new object" combo box now automatically adds an object when you select the metatype to insert. I doubt that this is a good design choice. First of all, this certainly isn't how combo boxes normally behave. Secondly, personally I tend to browse a combo box with the mouse or the keyboard. Certainly the latter isn't possible now. The "Add" button is an imperative command ("add this!"), and automatically _assuming_ I want to add an object because I chose a metatype from a list isn't. If it were a link, it'd be different, because links are implicitly imperative ("go here!"), but HTML selects/combo boxes really are not. Having the good old "Add" button adds one extra click to every add operation. Iirc, Gadfly has internal tables/views just like, say, MSSQL or Sybase has. And iirc, they're called things like __table_names__ __datadefs__ __columns__ __indices__ __indexcols__ and so forth. Auto-ID creation

I have another dumb question (thanks for the quick fix on ZClasses within ZClasses, by the way... works great!). I need to "auto-create" a ZClass that I have... what I mean is that I want the user to be able to click a "new" button, and get a new instance of the class WITHOUT having to enter an ID... I would like an auto-generated ID... either a random number or sequential or whatever. I can generate the ID, I think, but can't seem to create the instance. I think this may be similar to the problem that was being discussed about creating ZClasses from external methods, but I can't seem to find a way to get it to work... Any help would be appreciated. Object reference in Zope???

Thanks for everyone who has helped me on this problem. It turned out that there is something wrong with my permission setting. However, I am still not very clear what is the best way to refer to a subfolder object in Zope. Here is what I find out so far: Let's say I have a site like this Home index_html testing data testing 1) Problem One When I am in index_html, I can refer to Home.testing by doing:  But if I want to display Home.data.testing in index_html, I have to do:  NOTE: , without the double quote, doesn't cut it. Also, if I want to see Home.testing's title, I have to do , not  Question: What's the reason behind this inconsistency of reference? Given the excellent work the Zope team has shown in the product, I am sure that there must be a reason, right? 2) Problem Two Let's say in index_html, I have a string property called "pageID", and "pageID" equals to the string "testing". Now, if I want to use the "pageID" to refer to the two "testing" documents, I thought I can do:  or  But they don't work. What I end up doing is:  That work. The problem is, how can I get "Home.data.testing"?  surely won't work, but I am surprised that even if I spell out the full path, it still wouldn't work:  nor does  What I end up doing is:    Question: What is the preferred to do that? Is there a better method? Why can't I simply refer to an object inside "_.getitem" using a format like "xxx.yyy"? Sorry for asking these stupid questions, I am really new on programming, and on Zope.
