Newbie: Two questions regarding DTML.

Hi, I'm an intern at my university working on a system for web-based course-support, using Zope. I've run into two major problems, could someone shed some light on this, please? This is my Zope directory tree: # + # Control Panel + # Extensions + # Quickstart # acl users - # home # acl users + # images - # ondpsy # acl users + # images 1. When I create a DTML document in /home which contains the html-code for a navigation bar, that uses gifs from home/images, how can I prevent Zope from referring to /home/ondpsy/images when I use that DTML object thingie in my /home/ondpsy/index.html? When I rename /home/ondpsy/images to something else, no problem, but I don't want to do that! 2. A standard_html_header created in /home when used in /home/ondpsy/index.html still uses the title given to /home/standard_html_header instead of the title given to /home/ondpsy/index.html - is that normal, or am I missing something? a newbie in trouble with tree tag and sql methods

hi, i'm trying the tree tag + sql meth example that was discussed in this group some weeks ago. the sql method works fine, tree tag shows the correct information, but the only thing wrong is that expand/collapse of tree doesnt work correctly: the first node expands all other nodes exept itself and all other nodes collapse all nodes. any ideas what might be wrong?? i'm using Zope 2.0.0a3 with python1.52 on linux2.2 and postgresql6.5 the sql method i'm using is: --- name: query argument: param --- SELECT id as obj_id, nimi as name FROM asutus WHERE  ylem=  ylem IS NULL  and tree tag is:   ,   data im'm using is: test=> select id,nimi as name, ylem as paernt_id from asutus; id|name |paernt_id --+-----+--------- 1|tty | 2|ut | 3|ebs | 4|cyber| 1 7|phys | 1 8|chem | 2 6|filo | 2 5|keel | 2 9|tpu | 10|kala | 9 11|kamm | 9 12|jura | 9 (12 rows) Thanks in advance, Lauri

Can I change the authentication realm programmatically?

Depends on how you're invoking Zope. If you're going in through pcgi, then edit the line BOBO_REALM=Zope in your Zope.cgi. If you're using Publisher.py in some other way, set the enironment variable BOBO_REALM or Z_REALM. else-please-specify-ly y'rs Evan Simpson

Zope uses HTTP basic authentication, which is what pops up the dialog box. Any other method you want to use (cookies, form variables being passed around) you'd have to roll your own. Note that UserDB does cookie auth as well as basic. As for the mysql issue, I suspect the bottleneck is purely a MySQL thing if Zope doesn't behave that way all the time. Note that even though you may be running Zope in threaded mode, the MySQL client library for python (which we did not write and do not support) is not thread safe, so you should NOT run Zope 2.0 with more than one thread if you want to use MySQL. Someone may want to patch the MySQLDA so that the whole thing is wrapped in a lock, or serializes requests before the client library is entered. intermittent slowdown

hi everyone, guess tonight i'm on a roll with all these questions :) thanks a bundle for the helpful answers i got on my previous queries, those problems are solved. i'm not sure if this one has to do with zope itself or my platform or other environment factors: when i work in the management interface i experience intermittent "hanging" when jumping from one object to the next, e.g. after editing a dtml method i click on a folder name in the left-hand navigation bar to switch to that folder. i will get there, but it does take 30-60 seconds sometimes. the funniest thing is, it does not seem to happen when viewing the website and navigating through it, only when "managing" it. to make it even more interesting, when i have two browser windows, one "viewing" the site and the other "managing" it, if i experience one of those hangups on the "manage" side and just navigate or refresh on the "view" side the hangup on the management side gets resolved as well and i get wherever i wanted. am i the only one who has seen this behavior? my setup is RedHat 6.0, python 1.5.2, Zope 2.0.0a3 on ZServer, all on a dual P166MMX with 256M ram. thanks again for the help so far :) Jens Vagelpohl

Success (almost) building Zope using mingw on NT

Well, Thanks to some great instructions at http://starship.python.net/crew/kernr/ and a couple small patches I've manage to get Zope extensions to build as .pyd's on my NT machine using mingw. And surprisingly things work, almost. Zope running with ZODB2 is utter perfection, however I run into some problems (most certainly of my own making) trying to run ZODB3. I'm too lazy to type in the entire traceback (Windows is being picky about letting me copy and paste from my command window), but here is hopefully the important stuff: Traceback (innermost last): <snip> File "C:\mingw\Zope\Zope-2.0.0a3-src\lib\python\ZODB\Connection.py", line 118, in __init__ self._cache=cache=PickleCache(self,cache_size, cache_deactivate_after) TypeError: function requires at most 2 arguments; 3 given. So I poke around a little bit and decide (as an experiment), in Connection.py, to try changing from cPickleCache import PickleCache to from BoboPOS.PickleCache import PickleCache since the PickleCache there has three arguments (for the __init__ function, that is). Rerunning Zope I get _almost_ exactly the same error message: Traceback (innermost last): <snip> File "C:\mingw\Zope\Zope-2.0.0a3-src\lib\python\ZODB\Connection.py", line 118, in __init__ self._cache=cache=PickleCache(self,cache_size, cache_deactivate_after) TypeError: function requires at most 3 arguments; 4 given.
