Implementing new REQUESTED_METHOD handlers

Hi, Is it possible to have a Product (or an External Method) handle, say, a MOVE REQUESTED_METHOD? I'm trying to make a Product which handles Netscape Roaming profiles, but to do that, I need Zope to handle the not standard MOVE method. These methods are normally handled by the webserver, i think. Isn't there an API to extend/modify the webserver included with zope (like you can modify apache with eg. mod_perl?) Jeroen

There may be more than one way to do this but I found I needed to install the SQL Net bit of Oracle for NT which gave me the "Oracle73 Ver 2.5" ODBC driver. You need then to configure the TNSNAMES.ORA file. I could then connect to remote Unix-hosted Oracle databases OK with the Zope ODBCDA (ignoring some problems with date/time fields which I'm told have now been fixed). I've never fathomed what the "Microsoft ODBC for Oracle" driver (the "names in quotes" above are how they appear to me in the NT ODBC control panel) - that seems to be part of the standard NT issue - can actually do? broken ZMySQLDA II

I've come closer to the solution but not close enough... I overlooked an error occuring in the "python build.py" step, because after the first time I installed zope successfully I wrote an install-script to do the work for me the next time. Ok, the error-message is: ImportError: libmysqlclient.so.6: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory I remembered that the last time I saw this error I created a link mysql in /usr/lib/ pointing to /usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql. But this time it didn't do the job. I also edited the Setup file ...-L/usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql. Still not found. But it is there. What's going wrong? Ragnar

MySQLDA on Solaris

Hello Everyone. It has been a while since I have messed around with Zope, at least a month or so. Anyway, I am trying to get connectivity from Zope to a MySQL database. I am having some trouble, I am not sure if this is related to solaris, or the ZMySQLDA. Currently I am testing Solaris 7 x86, when everything works, and I learn more it will be upsized to Sparc hardware. I get the following error then I try to 'build' MySQLDA: ld -G _mysqlmodule.o -L/usr/local/mysql/lib -lmysqlclient -o _mysqlmodule.so Traceback (innermost last): File "build.py", line 14, in ? import MySQLdb File "MySQLdb.py", line 19, in ? from _mysql import * ImportError: ld.so.1: python: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/local/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.6: symbol __udivdi3: referenced symbol not found Everything seems to be in the correct places - is that symbol part of something I might not have installed? Any help on this would be great. -chris

I've released a new version of the Local File System product, version 0.1.4. This version fixes major problems with acquisition, so I recommend anyone using the product upgrade to this version. Problem installing Zope2 on DU OSF1 V4

I have tried to run Zope 2.1.2 on Digital Unix. OSF1 V4.0F Using the default start script I get to the the first page but then the ZServer gives a fatal stack overflow error message, as soon as I click on one of the links. Is this a threads problem? I tried compiling my own python with-dec-threads option enabled but had the same result. Any help apreaciated ? Here is some information, that might be of help. This is a slow alpha machine with 24M of RAM. The proces takes a good while to start up. Eating up RAM until it reaches 14Mb. I get the first page, but as soon as I request a diferent page (by clicking on /QuickStart/ or /manage links) I get: Stack overflow: pid 11182, proc python, addr 0x14085ffe8, pc 0x12003c318 the process then dies and a new one slowly loads... Reloading the root page or /index_html seems not to cause the Stack Overflow error. Thanks in advance, damian

Oracle and WinNT

I have had experience with integrating Zope with MySQL on Linux with the MySQLDA. For an upcoming project, I will need to use Zope and Oracle on WinNT. Am I correct is thinking that the OracleDA only works on Unix, and the the ODBC DA is my only option on WinNT ? Just tried using our Exchange server as the SMTP server for a MailHost (which works just fine with the other two 'real' SMTP servers I have access to, and sure enough, the mail never arrived. Looks like a real MS feature -- anyone else? BTW, the Exchange server works OK as an SMTP host from Outlook Express, which is the only 'standards-based' mail client I've got on this machine. Anon. ftp?

Hi, How does one configure Zope to allow anonymous ftp to certain directories? I tried connecting as anonymous, but I could not access anything. I notice, though, that zope.org makes products available for downloading via http. It seems like http could replace anon ftp except that ftp has a reputation for being more error-free for large downloads. Anyone have an opinion here? - Robb
