My Data.fs won't pack with 2.1.3

I'm using Zope 2.1.3 When I try to pack my database (about 300M) I get a browser timeout. The python process seems to keep packing for a while after that. When all is done the database is the same size (the first time it was .1M bigger) and there is a Data.fs.pack file left in the var directory. The Data.fs should pack down quite a bit because I previously deleted a large portion of the stuff in the database. Has anyone seen this and does anyone know how to fix it? broken ZMySQLDA

I just installed the new Zope version and got a broken ZMySQLDA. There is an import error: No module named _mysql. Shoot! I remember I already solved that problem for my last installation but didn't write down how. Who can help? Ragnar

I figured out my problem with my property sheet. When I created my modified property sheet I took the code from a "view source" of my original property sheet form. Property Sheet Question

I'm experimenting with creating a custom form for managing my properties. In my ZClass, I've created a DTMLMethod which lets me edit my properties. In my Views view, I've selected my custom form as the form for my Properties tab. When I create an instance of my ZClass, I have two views (tabs) defined, Contents and Properties. When I click on Properties, I see my form. However, if I move the mouse over the Properties view, the URL I see in the status pane is different than the URL of the page currently being displayed. For example, the name of the method which displays my form is "manageProperties". When I click on the object to get to the page which shows the Contents and Properties tabs, if I move my mouse over "Properties" I see the URL ".../ZClassInstance/manageProperties". Clicking on this tab displays the proper form. Now when the mouse is over the "Properties" button, the URL is ".../ZClassInstance/propertysheets/instanceProperties/manage". The "instanceProperties" is the name of the property sheet defined for my ZClass. Can someone explain to me what is going on, and more importantly, how to correct the problem? Thanks. James W. Stupid Zope-related Python Questions

I've written a ZClass which uses a Python Class as it's base. I've written some DTML methods in my ZClass but I've decided to try and convert some of them to Python code. I have a couple of questions relating to how Python works with Zope. First, I know that when I make changes to my Python files I have to restart Zope to have my changes take effect. I know that my source files get recompiled. However, what I don't know is where/how I can see compilation error messages. For example, yesterday I made some changes and my changes had some syntax errors. I restarted the server but noticed that my Product didn't install correctly. I looked and noticed that my .pyc file was missing. I took a look at my source file and found a syntax error. When I corrected it and restarted Zope everything worked fine. There must be some way to either manually compile Python code or somehow get compilation error messages. Can someone help a Python newbie with this simple task? The other question I have concerns how to do some dtml-like functionality in a Python method. In particular, how would I accomplish the same thing that a dtml-with tag might do? For example, the DTMLMethod that I'm converting to Python is a low level instance creation method for my ZClass. It is responsible for making sure the properties are updated and certain objects are added into the object collection maintained by my ZClass. For DTMLMethods, I just call manage_addDTMLMethod. However, I'm also adding an instance of another ZClass I've written, and in the DTML code, I have to do a <dtml-with "manage_addProduct[...]" before I call the add method for my ZClass. Netscape roaming profiles

Hi, I tried to use netscape communicators roaming profiles with Zope. Since it has the PUT method, it should work, when setting user_pref("li.server.http.useSimplePut", true); in prefs.js. I created a folder for my netscape roaming user, gave it manager persmissions (just to test). Downloadable list archives

The downloadable list archives would IMHO be more useful if they could just be loaded on any mail program and read as if you're a subscriber since the beginning. pcgi-wrapper.c bugs & programming oddities * The first error stems from using strlen and atol on a buffer which has not been null terminated. The program works because the programmer got lucky because the buffer is followed by a pointer which is initialized to zero and is never used. In "main": char t[10]={0}; should be char t[HDRLEN+1] = {0}; * Remove estatus & emsg, they are not used. * sizeof(char) is used liberally, but according to "The C Programming language" 2nd edition ANSI version. "sizeof(char) == 1", see Pg 204 under A7.4.8. When "sizeof(char)" is replaced by "1", the code simplifies nicely. * After "Receive stdout and stderr" buffers are allocated one byte larger than necessary and the whole buffer is cleared before the read. Both operations can be removed and the code cleaned up. Larry
