It was built by following the HOW-TO found on the Zope.Org site. I created a distribution from the Distribution tab, then import the product into my new 2.1.2 instance which is an upgrade of the 2.0.1 site. However, I get the following error when trying to access a page containing a list of PDF documents. Zope Error[PARA]Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Here's one comment that should provide a good place to start. There is already a mechanism for creating product distributions for products created through the web. When you develop a product with ZClasses and you want to distribute it, you can use a web interface to create a tar ball that can be installed just like any other Zope product. There is no need to fool around with export files and no need to have an inconsistent installation mechanisms. This is documented in the Zope Content Manager's Guide, http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Guides/ZCMG, in the chapter on "Zope Applications and Products", http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Guides/ZCMG-HTML/ZCMG.6.html, in the section on "Creating Product Distributions", http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Guides/ZCMG-HTML/ZCMG.6.4.html. This mechanism is far from perfect and I look forward to suggestions and implementation for enhancements. We also have some specific ideas for enhancing this mechanism. This seems to be one of those topics of "Zope Zen" that is not widely known. (Very few people at DC seem to be aware of it.) Zope as a content manager for static web sites

We're using Zope to build a web based app, but we also have a site that just serves static pages. I'd love to use Zope as a content management tool for the static site, but can't install Zope on that server. Is there a Zope add-on that would let me build the site in Zope, and then publish a static web site from that. Have Zope build the HTML pages from the DTML methods, and write them to disk, so that I can then FTP those to the server? Any directions you could point me would be greatly appreciated. Bob

XMLDocument, Zope.org mistake

Hi, in http://www.zope.org/Products/XMLDocument/ XMLDocument-1.0a3.tgz is XMLDocument 1.0a4 and vice versa: XMLDocument-1.0a4.tgz is XMLDocument 1.0a3 I was experiencing a 1.0a3 bug solved in 1.0a4, the Changes page gave me the clue, I was using the 1.0a3 version that I downloaded from the Zope site thinking it was 1.0a4. Please, fix this and update the CHANGES and version files of the 1.04a release. Thanks, David

Looping construct for DTML

Is there any chance of a looping construct for DTML? Fairly often I find I need to do a pretty simple piece of looping control, for instance repetitively popping items off the URL path under SiteAccess to do something with them, and I find that I have everything I need under DTML except a <dtml-while expr>. I know I could do an embedded method, but the task is *really* lightweight and obvious, and going to a whole other method for a little bit of string-fu seems overkill. Perfect would be: <dtml-while "expr"> </dtml-while> Yes, I realise the dangers of infinite loops. WebDAV and Word 2000

I am trying to make a case for the use of Zope as our project documentation server (among other things) to management here. This is not easy as their instinctive reaction is to say 'Buy something from Microsoft'. In some instances, we will be storing Word documents on the Zope (2.12) server. I tried opening them with Word 2000, but I was only able to open them as Read-only. Is there someway to allow editing of Word documents using WebDAV. Squishdot via WAP

It finally works, thanks to help from Duncan Booth, who is writing a howto so that life become easier for us all. Thanks Duncan. Anyone use Confera? I tried to add Confera...

...I unpacked the tarball in the Zope dir, and restarted Zope, and sure enough the Confera product shows up. I was even able to add it to a folder, and successfully posted a test message. But when I tried to "compose reply" to the test, I get the following error: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: regs Troubleshooting Suggestions The URL may be incorrect. The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect. A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an error. For more detailed information about the error, please refer to the HTML source for this page. If this helps: I am running Zope-2.1.2 (compiled from src) on RH linux 6.1, and all of the above was done as "superuser". The only non-out-of-the-box thing I've done is to run the ZServer on port 80. One thing to consider is that ZODB with the default FileStorage manager only seems to allow one process to have the DB open for write access. So it more than one process needs to write you would have to look at Digital Creations pay-for product ZEO or perhaps roll you own server.
