You don't show us how you open the file object, f; the default is to open it is "text" mode, which is the same as binary mode on a Unix box, but *not* on Windows. Z SQL Methods

Hi, When I create a Z SQL Method just to create a table, did I need to put any arguments in? I created the follow SQL Method: id - sqlcreate_table Connection id - agendaDB Arguments - (I didn't put anything here) Query String: CREATE TABLE registos ( nome VARCHAR(10), apelido VARCHAR(10), morada VARCHAR(50), localidade VARCHAR(30), casa INT(10), telemovel INT(10), data_nasc VARCHAR(10) ) The nome, apelido, morada, localidade, casa, telemovel and data_nasc will be the columns. When I push the Add and Test button it show up message: the query requires no input. Then I puch the Submit Query and an error is showed up: Syntax Error!!! Do I need to put any arguments? Where is the syntex error? This Table is to be used to store some information from a form. I maybe will need to create two more SQL Methods, one to add the form information to the respective column and another to show the table. Like to do a search to the content of the table. Greetings, I am trying to install the Zope MySQL Adapters and I get the following when I try to install the file./ Traceback (innermost last): File ":build.py" line 14 in? import MySQLdb File Mysql MySQld.py in line 19? from _ mysql import* Import error : libmysqlclient.so.6 cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory.

Gentlepeople: Can anyone please help solve my problem: I have re-insalled ReHat to make sure that this is not the problem I get the following error when I try to the command " python buld.py" Trace back (innermost last): File "build.py", line14 in ? import MySQLdb File MysqlDB, line 19 in ? from _mysql import * Import error : libmysqlclient.so.6 cannont open shared object file: NO SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY. *-- BREAK--- I have chaned the Setup.in file to read thusly: _mysql _mysqlmodule.c -L /usr/local/lib/mysql -I/usr/local/include/mysql -lmysqlclient Also these file do appear to be in the directory. Why does it not complile? COMPONENTS: After installaing ReHat 6.1 and MySQL 3.22.32 I find that it is difficult to connect the two together. I have downloaded the ZMYSQLDA-1.1.3=nonbin.tar.gz and the ZMySQLdb-0.1.-0 and ZMySQLdb-0.1.2. I made sure that I used source code for both Zope and MySQL. The problem I am having is when I try to install the ZMySQLdb part. We haven't tried Zope out internally on win2K yet, so I can't really speak intelligently on the matter right now. But, since that's never stopped me before... :^) The win32 service support is based on Mark Hammonds win32 extensions (win32service in particular). A good place for an enterprising individual to start would be to take Zope out of the picture by installing a clean Python1.5.2 on win2K with the win32 extensions and see if any of Mark's win32 service demos (I believe there is at least one) will run. If anyone takes me up on this, I'd be _very_ interested in the results (as I won't have time for a while yet to get to this myself). Hope this helps! Bug in object security?

I've encountered a strange behavior with the Zope security mechanism which strikes me as a bug. Here is what I've done: 1. Create a folder in root named 'AccessTest' 2. Create a user folder in AccessTest 3. Define a role for AccessTest called 'Publisher' 4. Create a user in the acl_users directory and grant the user 'Publisher' access 5. From the AccessTest security tab, disable 'Access contents information' for anyone except the manager. 6. From the AccessTest security tab, enable 'View management screens' for Manager and Publisher. From a fresh browser (no previous authentication), attempt to access the management interface for AccessTest (i.e. http://foo.com:8080/AccessTest/manage) Log in as the 'Publisher' user. The screen displaying the contents of the AccessFolder will be displayed. However, this is where I think a mistake has been made. In ObjectManager, the 'View management screens' has been associated with manage_main and manage_menu. Similarly, ObjectManager defines the 'Access contents information' for the methods objectIds, objectValues and objectItems. When I disable 'Access contents information' for my Publisher role, it would seem that users with this role should not be able to access these methods. However, the manage_main dtml code which defines the contents view of the management interface makes use of these methods. When the manage_main dtml is rendered, why doesn't Zope prompt for authentication when manage_main attempts to access objectItems, for example? I'm sure there is a very reasonable explanation, but it strikes me as odd. Thanks. James W. changing sizes of Property Sheets/Views

I've got some ZClasses, Property Sheets and views set up. I'm populating instances of my classes.... but when I want to come back and edit them, I'm using the management screen of the instance, and its default view, created I guess from the Property Sheet that I created. How can you change the sizes of these fields? For instance, I specified one attribute as a text, but the resulting textarea is too small to work with. Or am I approaching this wrong- should I be creating DTML methods that read the values and edit them in a form I write as a method, then update the instance. Right now I'm directly trying to edit the View that was created. A newbie question...

I've just installed the latest version of Zope and, following one of the how-tos managed to get ZMySQLDA and MySQLdb installed and working. I've been using Apache and PHP, and am interested in exploring how migrating my web site to Zope can benefit me. Unfortunately, I've run into a snag. A summary table on one particular part of my site is constructed thusly: I have a table 'names' containing, in each row, a name, an ID, and an 'active' flag. Another table, 'money', contains an ID and a dollar amount, representing adjustments to the associated 'account'. A final table, 'action', stores an ID and a number of hours worked. For each name in 'names', the total number of hours worked is computed and multiplied by a fixed amount to create a value 'earned', and then added to the total dollar amount in 'money'. Then, each row of the HTML table shows the ID, name, total hours, 'earned' amount, adjustments, and the final balance. I'd like to continue storing the information in the MySQL database that it currently resides in, but I'm having a heck of a time understanding how to structure my SQL methods. Can anybody drop a hint, or point me towards a document that'll help me understand how to proceed? (For what it's worth, I can use the Search Interface Wizard to perform queries, but doing sub-queries within the generated method isn't intuitive to me at all--is that even the right approach?) --- Chris Christopher W.
