Squishdot won't run

Anybody any ideas why I get "Error type:TypeError Error value:Call of non-function(type module)" ?? ..... File /usr/local/zope/Zope-2.1.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/Squishdot/Squishdo t.py, line 381, in __init__ (Object: ElementWithAttributes) File /usr/local/zope/Zope-2.1.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/SearchIndex/TextIndex.py, line 253, in __init__ TypeError: (see above) When trying to Add a Squishdot object. Newbie Security Query

Hi, I've just been reading an interesting article on XML-RPC which lead me to try something and ask some questions... If you go to http://www.zope.org/title_or_id you get the result of the title_or_id method. The same is true of the manage method and the REQUEST method. Me being paranoid, this makes me wonder whether there are any 'bad' methods that could be executed in this way, without any security authorization? Again, being paranoid, how would you got about turning off the title_or_id or REQUEST methods, or at least requiring authorisation to use them? (While of course leaving it possible for DTML methods and the like within the site to call them) Finally, if you had a DTML document, method or image, etc, called title_or_id or manage, how would you go about getting the one you want, either the document or the result of calling the method? cheers for any help, confusedly, Chris

Javascript and Zope

Hello . . . I was planning on using Javascript to do some data validation on a Zope site, but as it turns out, Javascript has big problems coping with the type-conversion tags (:string, :int, etc) and the ":records" tag. (I could certainly live without the type converters, but the ":records" tag would be quite handy.) I couldn't find a way to let Javascript reference any of the form items that used the ":whatever" construct. Does anyone know a way around this? Thanks in advance for any help! -CJ

doc/FAQ.txt and linux libc5 problem.

doc/FAQ.txt says that zope requires glibc (libc6) to work under Linux Zope 2.1.3 seems to works perfectly (AFAICS) on my Sparc 20 under Linux 2.0.35 with libc5.3.12 and python 1.5.2 however there were two small error messages when starting zope, related to the time.timezone module which doesn't seem to be available (maybe it's a problem when I've compiled python, or it's a libc5 problem, or I've deleted some files, I don't know). For those of you who might be interested here are the two small patches to make it work without error messages (they are attached to this message). before going into production state, did anyone encountered other problems when running zope on a libc5 based system ? I mean what really are the risks ? I don't want to update this installation for now, so if it works I'll keep it. thanks in advance. Navigator Tree

Hi, Has anyone done a tree-style navigator for the directory structure in Zope? What I'm aiming for is exactly the same sort of tree as you get in the /manage views, except not in a different frame. Also, hopefully something that I can include in standard_html_header so that it's visible throughout the site. Cheers for any help, Chris

ZCatalog Search Question

When I search a ZCatalog, does ZCatalog compute any sort of relevance score? For example, if I'm doing a full text search, I might want to know which items have more hits so I could sort them to the top of a list. On the same topic, when I do a ZCatalog search, how do I find out how many items were found? I've read over the dtml-in documentation and I must be overlooking the variable which tells me how many total items I've found. I need this information when I display my results. Thanks. James W.
