Hallo! I'm thinking about using zope to develop some sites. May you please advise me about a Zope hoster? I've looked at those listed on zope.org, but some of them offer just 20MB or have most of the site written in german. One of them I can't even reach, others don't mention zope on their pages, or are a bit on the pricey side. I need a flexible, expandable solution. I may need 40MB and two domains for a start, and more in the future. I have to install my products and use pgsql or mysql. Shell access is welcome, too.. Do you have some suggestion? Which ISPs do you think are best? - OR - Do you think I'd better install zope as a normal user, on one of those cheap ISPs that give me 500MB ? Thank you very very much.

I just found a HOWTO by jpenny: Accessing a ZSQL method from an external method. It helps a bit but actually I don't want to use a ZSQL method I just want to take advantage of a persistant connection. Wait, I got an idea ... [20 min. later] Hooray! Try this: I have an open ZMySQL Database called 'my_connection'. Now I can query the db from my external method with: self.my_connection._v_database_connection.query('select * from whatever') [another 20 min. later] I benchmarked it agains opening a connection and cursor and then execute() and fetchall(). Using the Zope connection took about 60% of the time the other method took. can't use a cast operator in a sql query

I couldn't see this covered in the Zsql user's guide. select myfield from foo works as expected. As the current ODBC driver I am using has a bug which truncates varchar fields, it was suggested I cast it to char while retrieving the field. But select cast(my_varchar_field as char(140)) from foo gives an error with the following traceback... Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Is Zope suitable?

Hello! I have some questions about Zope and I thought I ask them before spending alot of time reading the documentation. Can I install zope on a apache system WITHOUT being root? My ISP is running apache on a Solaris 5.6 system. I want to create a system that lets any user create his own User Data Record. The user data record will contain data about the user, e.g. Name, email address, etc. This record should only be editable by the user (and admin) with somekind of login. This user data must then be searchable! Listings on all or some of the data should be able to present in different sorting orders, e.g. Lastname, country, etc. Is Zope suited for this kind of system? I've tried something like this(and a lot of variants): <dtml-if expr="_.math.fmod(x,y) == 0"> do something </dtml-if> What is it for: I have some words returned from a search which I want to be displayed like this: word_a word_b word_c word_d word_e word_f word_g word_h word_i Thanks in advance. Curious FreeBSD problem: Too many open files in system

Has anybody seen this before? I seriously doubt my maxusers setting is the problem -- this usually indicates an infinate openfile loop. Anyway, the short of it is that Zope isn't starting. I'm using FreeBSD 3.4 and Python 1.5.2. Thanks! logical operator in dtml-if

I am doing some error checking with <dtml-if>, simply to check that some variables exist, however I can't seem to find a syntax that ZOPE agrees with to use AND. what I want to do: <dtml-if Var AND anothervar AND yetanothervar> render page <dtml-else> you have to enter details in all the fields </dtml-if> I know this is a messy way to do it, and I'd appreciate all suggestions.
