How to create a file from a form?

Hi All, I'm trying to create a DTML Document, or a DTML Method or a text file from an input form in a web page. I have a form with some input text, some checkboxes and radiobutton and a submit. On submit I have to create a text file and append some text at the end of that file. I can use the manage_addDTMLDocument method to create that file, even if I would create a text file, and not a DTML Document, but I dont know how to append any text at the end of the file or how to edit the file. Can Anyone Help Me? Thanx

I apologize for the (probably FAQ) newbie problem. FedEx hasn't delivered my copy of "The Zope Book" or "Programming Python" yet, so please forgive me. Suppose I have the name of an object in variable `foo'. I would like to test for the existence of the named object. Suppose that foo=='bar'. The following won't work: <dtml-if foo> <br>Yep! </dtml-if> because `foo' will always have a value. How, then, can I see if `bar' exists? A million thanks, -- Kirk Strauser

problem.

Hi, I'm propably overlooking something, but I'm facing here a problem which I can't solve right now. Perhaps somebody knows the solution. I'm creating a zip file and then return that one to the browser so that the user can download it. The problem is that the created file turns out to be corrupt ie the data is altered. You can see this below, where I show you the file which I zip and then the file after unzipping the downloaded file. Does somebody has an idea? I've also problems with PDF files and I'm starting to believe that this is the same problem. I'm running zope 2.4.1 on a windows nt machine Thanks in advance. Try renaming the file extension to be .tgz. When I downloaded the product, it was saved as .tar, which caused WinZip to fail with the same error message you reported. It worked for me. LoginManager Problem

Hello to U all, I find it difficult to open the LoginManager 0.8.8b1.tgz for installation. Each time i tried to open it with win zip i keep on getting this error msg "error reading header after process 0 entries" kindly render any assistance you could i hava been on this since yesterday. Kamal

I have try with: <dtml-call expr="_.getitem(id).manage_upload(file=new)"> Where "id" is the name of de document to modify ans "new" is the new document but it doesn't work. Thank you. I don't think I've expressed the problem clearly enough. It's not the folder title we need, it's the title/ID of the document/method that includes the header(via "dtml-var standard_header") . The site has pages with a lot of common content that can be split into the standard_header or standard_footer objects. The header has an HTML block: .... <head> <title><dtml-var title_or_id></title> </head> .... When the header is used by a page, I want the title to be that of the page that includes it, not the name of the header file. So, if index_html, with a title of "Homepage" has: <dtml-var standard_header> I want the resultant HTML to look like: .... <head> <title>Homepage</title> </head> .... Not "header" or the title of the standard_header file. I'm guessing that the same is going to apply to the footer, as it needs to display the modification time. I want to make the maintenance of the site easier by lumping together the common parts. If I can't get the above to work, I'm assuming that the only resort is to be long-winded (like my email) and forget about using headers & footers and hardcode these bits into every page. There's a lot of JavaScript too, which needs substitution for each page it's used on. So it's not just the HTML title block. Am I missing a technique/being thick? If you want the title of the folder, then your calling-Document needs to be a method. If there is no reason that your DTML-Doc has to be a doc, this is your solution. DTML-docs are folderish and have their own properties that will be inherited by a method in the namepsace, overriding the folder properties. This is why I have been told dont use DTML-Docs. I am sure there is some DTML-magic workaround for your public_header that only calls the title of the objecttype('Folder'). Excluding specific objects from ZCatalog indexing

Hey all :) What's the simplest way of excluding specific documents from a search? Well, not just from a search; it would be nice if they were never indexed in the first place. I've heard rumours that it's very easy to do and the mechanisms for excluding them explicitly are already there, but I haven't yet found out if these rumours are true :) If possible I would like to avoid having to do things like add another index to the catalog specifying whether the document should be visible.
