Zope 2.4 Catalog Error

I am getting this error when adding a ZDiscussion Topic. It only occured after upgrading to 2.4. Any ideas: Error Value: Catalog addIndex now requires the index type to be resolved prior to adding; create the proper index in the caller. Thanks, Chris

enhanced Virtual Host Monster question.

Hi Folks; On a Zope site I'm working on right now I'm using Apache to serve up some virtual hosts, and am using the enhanced VirtualHostMonster to help with the mapping. This works quite well when I have a domain mapped directly to a directory in Zope, but in one instance I have a mostly static site and then a catalogue which is dynamic. So when users go to www.fakedomain.foo Apache routes them straight to the static content. When people go to www.fakedomain.foo/catalogue they are rerouted to a directory in Zope. Right now I have everything working fine with Apache doing the remapping and a SiteRoot in the directory on Zope... but there're a few things I find bothersome about having the siteroot there. (Probably more an aesthetic thing than anything else). When I try to use the virtualhostmonster with the /catalogue link I can't see to get things quite right. (forgive my sample as I don't have access to the server right now) I have a line much like: Rewrite / http://location.of.zope:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.fakedomain.com:80/_vh_ catalogue >From what I got from the VirtualHostMonster documents this would be the proper way to do it; but alas Zope just gets grumpy at me trying to access an object beginning with "_" Am I just taking the wrong approach, or is the SiteRoot the best/only way to do what I'm trying to do? please help - pcgi on win32

arrghh! Complete pcgi newbie in very bad trouble: I'm having to install a site on NT with pcgi, being used to developing on Linux. I've made some changes which aren't appearing on my site (in fact it's completely broken). Because the site's broken, I copied back all the old sources. But I'm used to restarting servers, and with pcgi you don't do that. Is there a long running process I need to kill? seb

folder url should end in /

Today, someone created an index_html document in our Zope site which did not have any <html></html> tags or a <head></head> section. Grumble. The trouble was that their images were not showing up when requesting the folder as folderName and not as folderName/ I know that Zope adds a <base href="..."> when there is an html head section, but is the head section required? I notice that Apache, when a bare folder is requested, comes back with the folder with the trailing slash automatically. Is there a reason why Zope does not do this? Zclasses only for use in product management folder ?

I've created a Zclass which I want to use in other folders outside the product management folder. Now every time I want to add the product via "Add..." <name of zclass>, I get an alert to authenticate myself again. Now when I enter my username/pw again, I get the message that it's not the right user information and I don't get access to this ressource. Even if I create a new user in the user folder of the Zclass in the product management folder, I can't log on with this user again. 1. Why is Zope asking me for new authentification ? I couldn't find anything about it in any documentation ... 2. If I have to give new or change user rights to this Zclass, where can I add a user or where do I have to change the rights for adding this Zclass in other folders ? domain wildcards

I am using Zope 2.4.3, and I'm trying to set up domain authentication. I made sure that setDomainAuthentication is set to 1, and I am able to supply full domain names (e.g. 192.168.0.34). However, when I use a wildcard, such as 192.168.0.*, I get an "illegal domain specification" error. Even if I set a full domain name, the authentication does not seem to work. Did anybody else run into this problem? Thanks, Philipp

Internal data size limitations

Here is the situation. I have a 9.5 MB file object containing text data. I want to convert the text data into the properties for DTML Documents. I have a script for performing the conversion and creating the DTML Documents. The script runs just fine (by hitting the "Try" tab for the Python Script) when the number of records is low (e.g., less than 10). However, when I invoke the script for the large file, I get a Site Error. Even cutting the file down to about sevearl hundred records gives me the same error. The work around would be to write several hundred files and then run the script on them individually. Clearly, however, that is labor intensive. There has to be another way. Incidentally, I did not try to implement this as a relational database routine because there are only 13,116 records (yes, only) and it is much easier to set up editing and such via Zope, rather than incurring the extra overhead by using a relational database, such as mySQL or Postgres. Incidentally, I'm running Zope 2-4-3 on Linux (Debian, Potato using python 1.5). Disk space isn't a problem. However there is only 256 MB of RAM. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ron

Python Error on WinNT Server

Hi!! Normally I would sit down at my RHLinux Box and fire away and solve the problem myself. But, being that I have almost NO experience with Windows NT Server 4.0 and that the server actually belongs to the corporation I work for, I simply _had_ to make this post. Windows NT Server 4.0 without the latest 6.0 service pack running on a P3 500MHz on a company intranet. Not being used for anything serious, but will hopefully act as a webserver to interface to MS SQL 7.0. Installed Zope-2.4.3-win32-x86.exe, as well as ZODBCDA-3. 1.0b2-win32-py21 and Znolk-0.1.9. Zope is running as a service on the machine --- which I have a hunch may not be all that intelligent? Anyway, the problem is that every so often when trying to access the webpage, there is no response from the server. So, I trundle off to the server itself to see what the heck is going on, and I am informed (after logging in as administrator) that there has been an access violation with python.exe --- attached is the pop-up screen. Sheeesh. So I click OK, the service restarts Zope, and the webpage is available again. I need to roll-out this webpage in the next couple of weeks. I need it to be stable. Sure, I should be Running Zope on a Linux Box, but hey --- I don't have that luxury here. I don't know much about WinNT but I *DO* know that I need to rid myself of this error.
