HOWTO: Using Xron on Zope 2.4.x

Hi all .. I struggled with this myself today, so I summed up the wisdom of the archives for those who come after ;) To use Xron on Zope 2.4.x, some hackery is required .. 1. Import DateTime correctly. Instead of: from Globals import DateTime do this: from DateTime import DateTime You need to do that once each in 'Dispatcher.py' and in 'XronDTMLMethod.py' 2. Implement the patches in this thread: http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope-dev/2001-July/012486.html In short: you need to do this: from Products.PluginIndexes.FieldIndex.FieldIndex import FieldIndex and instead of this: self._catalog.addIndex('name', 'FieldIndex') you now need to do this in a couple of places: self._catalog.addIndex('name', UnIndex('name')) 3. Follow the workaround described here: http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2001-April/087151.html (To get around bad interaction between Xron and 'Z2.py' on startup.) This is a drag. It has to happen every time you restart Zope. Yawn. I tried to mitigate it by running something like this:: cd lib/python/Products/Xron mv __init__.py __init__.py.not rm -f __init__.pyc cd ../../../../ (which I called called './xron_begone') from './start'. Then call http://server/Control_Panel/Products/Xron/manage_performRefresh and finally run './xron_comeback', which is the inverse of './xron_begone'. (Anyone have any better suggestions?) 4. Slay the dragon hinted at here: http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope-dev/2001-July/012502.html AFAIK, this is fixed by providing authentication information in 'Dispatcher.py':: (headers,response)=rpc(furl,'username','password') # Fire event You should now be running Xron without any more problems. sql SELECT from a list - Beginner's Question

I have a sql table which has 2 columns, v1 and v2. v1 is unique. I want to allow the user to enter up to 50 or less possible v1's, of their own choosing, and then simply view them. So the form page would have entries for up to 50 entry requests for v1. However, they may enter only 25, 30, 40, whatever they would like. So the sql without zope, if there were only 3 records requested, might look like: SELECT v1, v2, FROM tablename WHERE v1='1' or v1='3' or v1='5'; How do I build the form, sql method, and return list to accomplish this? I'm sure this has been done, so if someone could point me to a HOWTO or an example, it would be greatly appreciated. --Thanks.

Install Problem - probably stupid newbie thing

I have tried twice now to install Zope on a site on my server. I already have one other instance of Zope running on the server (successfully), but under a different IP number. I can open the Zope main screen, but the log-in will not accept the admin password the install script generated. I have Products that I've tried installing that fail because they can't seem to import html_quote from somewhere. Any help on how to fix this would be appreciated. I think what Bruce is asking is agnostic of this sort of thing, but I imagine he's referring to a whole object. If I understand correctly, this sort of thing exists in the CMF to trigger workflow states. Independent of the CMF, though, what you would need (I think, not 100% sure) to do is wrap object constructors & methods that change them, (for TTW adding of objects) and use a custom PUT() and/or PUT_factory() in the ObjectManager-derived container or your object itself (in order to change what happens when a file is uploaded via FTP or DAV into that container); I haven't done this, but I think there are those on this list that have done something like this. If I was trying to figure out how this is done, I would try to ask folks who have been into any workflow-related product code... OmniWeb, Zope, Cookies

There was a thread on this mailing list about zope and cookies and the OmniWeb Browser on Mac OS X. Basically it is hard to get things to work, because the Omniweb browser sets the cookie under a path variable. So when you go to fetch the cookie, it is not available by default. It turns out there is a fix to this problem. If you do set the path='/' argument in the command RESPONSE.setCookie('CookieName','CookieValue',path='/',expires ='wed, 19 Feb 2020')"> Then everything works just fine. At least it works fine on Omniweb on Mac OS X Server. I have not tested it on other browsers. I just did not want some other people to see the discouraging messages on this list server and give up. If you ever read this message, and it helps you, could you be so kind as to send me an email to that effect. It will encourage me to write more postings like this one.
