Viewing objects in sub-folders

Hi all, I am new to Zope. I have been working with it for my company and getting a web site together. So far I'm liking it more than I thought. I have started getting into using dtml and have hit a wall. Let me describe. I have a folder that has 3 sub folders. I created 3 zclasses/products. Users add new objects into these 3 folders, the objects being one of the 3 products created. Now I have a dtml method that will list the objects in the folder with the properties that were set. I can go to any of the 3 folders and view the dtml method to see the objects there. But what I need is this. I have an index_html in the main folder containing these 3 folders. This index_html needs to use the dtml method for displaying from each folder. So on the index_html the objects and properties from all 3 sub folders would be displayed in a columnar format. What do I use/do on the index_html to use or display the objects in a sub-folder? Make sense? I hope so. I would appreciate any help or guidance to get going on this. calling ZPublisher from python

I'd like to write a python function that returns the value of a Zope object whose URL is given as the function argument. Something like: import Zope, ZPublisher def f(URL): return ZPublisher.Zope(URL) But this doesn't work (in an external method). Can anybody help me? Thanks, Benjamin.

Errro instantiating new Zclasses

I am a zope newbie, and I'm having trouble instanting a Zclass. The Zclass is named "test3b", and it is the example out of the zopebook. The add form is displayed, but when I call createInObjectManager I get this error: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. NameError Sorry, a site error occurred. Page Templates and dtml

Which of these are easier to use? I have the following in a template: <html metal:define-macro="master"> <head> <title tal:content="template/title">The title</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="/NewPCT/css/default.css" type="text/css"> </head> <body> <img src="&dtml-var BASE2;/images/logo" width="420" height="60" align="right" alt="Logo"> <div metal:define-slot="main"> The contents </div> </body> </html> What I want is img src="/directory/images/logo" where the /directory part may change or become blank It work when the document is a dtml document, but how do you get it to work using a page template. I have looked at the Automatic navigation example, but am not sure how to get it to work with my template. The automatic navigation would also have to exclude some directories - e.g. style, images

HELP!!! Siteroot

Hi, I have been locked out of my Zope instance while trying to use siteroot.I added a siteroot in a folder which is immediately under the root.Now I am not able to access that port.It says "Resource not found" I can guess the prob is with my PATH specified.It's pointing to a non existent path....But I am not able to go back and change it. Somebody Please help . I simply CANNOT afford to lose the content on this port.can somebody help me atleast retrieve the content on this port? PythonWin and Zope

Running z2.py using PythonWin2.2a2, with the parameter -D I get the following: Traceback (innermost last): File C:\Program Files\WebSite\z2.py, line 564, in ? ImportError: DLL load failed: One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found. How could I fix this problem - does anyone have experience with ActivePython and Zope? I am running Windows 98 Second Edition, with ActivePython installed in C:\Python22 If it is not compatible with ActivePython 2.2, then would downloading ActivePython 2.1.1 work? Anyone used ActivePython? I use ActivePython as it makes it easier to use in Windows.

Zope's 'ObjectManager' API has a very simple format for accessing subobjects, which genearally can use Python's means of accessing an attribute by name: #in python: subfolder = myfolder['subobjectid'] #dtml: <dtml-with "subobjectname"> We are now in the namespace of the object with an id of subobjectid. </dtml-with> It sounds like you want to use recursion; look in the Zope help system for the ObjectManager in API reference. This will be useful to you. You may want to use methods like objectIds() or objectValues(), which you can loop over in DTML or in Python. You can pass the meta type of your objects to these methods to restrict what object ids/values you retrieve. Other methods can be used from your objects themselves using the ObjectManagerItems interface, like restrictedTraverse() and getPhysicalPath(). Folders participate in both these interfaces, via the various mixin Classes that they inherit from. Aside from the API help, you may find lots of useful things on recursively walking a tree of objects on sites like www.zopelabs.com. An emergency user account is always used in Zope; you can use 'python zpasswd.py access' in your Zope software root to create a new emergency user password; do this, then login and create a new user with manager roles, and relogin as that. You will want to create a different 'role' for each site category that you wish to protect; you can apply the 'View' permission to that role in the security tab of the top level folder for that portion of the site, and it applies the rest of the way down the folder hierarchy via acquisition, unless you override it; generally this is a good thing. You would then create sets of users with roles to access each site of content. The best way to accomplish a customized redirect-based-upon-login setup is either to use a forward-proxy server with a redirector/URL-rewriter, or you can do it in Zope; I'm guessing you want to do it in Zope itself, so you could create a TTW Python script or DTML method that acts as your initial login page. Based upon the roles the user has, you can do (in DTML): <dtml-if "_.SecurityGetUser().has_role('poweruser')"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('http://a.zope.site.com/poweruserfrontpage')"> <dtml-else> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('http://a.zope.site.com/everybodyelsefrontpage')"> </dtml-if> and so on...
