Zope interfacing with C

Hi there, I have a question about Zope's ability to interact with C programs. I don't know the *exact* details yet, but hopefully they shouldn't be (too) necessary for you to give me your opinions. Okay, a piece of software has been developed in C to analyse experimental data - lots of number crunching, etc. This is running on a *seperate* machine (or possibly array or machines). They (the developers) want a Web portal developed to interact with this software - yup, I expect the CMF (nee PTK) could be used here. The portal would facilitate (obviously) user accounts, data storage, etc. and would have to facilitate a whole bunch of functions supported by the C programs - data analysis, data visualisation, etc. E.g. a C program is running somewhere and the user enters information through Zope. Actually, I think the data would be held on a database before it is processed. Okay, so data from Zope / a database is sent to a C program, processed, and the output is returned to the user through Zope and displayed in the browser. Basically, I am asking how feasible it would be to use Zope to interact with C programs - to provide input for and display its output. If its a problem, then I expect that Zope and the C programs could be run on the same machine. It would not be possible to re-implement the software in Python - well, I suppose it would, but it's quite a large piece of software that has taken a few years to develop. I would appreciate a few different points of view. newbie help please with Postgres

Hello, I have unpacked the ZpoPyDA-1.2.tar.gz and re-started zope. Currently this is not possible when you use the current CMF, although maybe if you are only looking to add news items you may install squishdot within the CMF, but then I think you'll loose the CMF functionality. aquisition problems with subitem in pyhton product

hello i've two python products which subclasses Folder.Folder One is called "Site" The other "Topic" there is a index_html attribute in the Site Product code: index_html = (DTMLFile('dtml/representation/site_index_html', globals())) now i put a Topic product into a Site product the Topic product itself has no index_html if i now request the url /theSite/theTopic/index_html the index_html shows up, but with the attributes of the Site object (like <dtml-var absolute_url> == /theSite) so its the same as: /theSite/index_html it appears that i've got the same problem with other methods please help thanks in advance

Cannot get index_html object

Hello, I have trouble getting the contents of my ohsodear index_html. <dtml-var index_html> gives None, so does <dtml-var "_['index_html']">... these work with other DTML documents. At the same time <dtml-var "_.has_key('index_html')"> returns 1, so it is not completely dead. Help. Sven

Multiple SQL Updates

I have a simple <DTML-Method> that displays multiple records as the result of a query. One of the fields displayed is to be updated. What I would like to know is how to get the form to work so that several records can have that one field updated at the same time. I can get it to work easily to update one record at a time, but would like to allow up to 25 records to be updated at once - is this possible? This is the update query: update cmin_meeting set committee_code=<dtml-sqlvar committee_code type=int> where meeting_ref=<dtml-sqlvar meeting_ref type=int> But this code only works for one individual record on its own, not multiple records. Virtual Host Monster and <BASE ..>

I am using the Virtual Host monster and apache rewrite rules to handle virtual hosts. I am using Zope 2.3.0 on FreeBSD and Apache1.3. This works very well for all folders/pages other than the virtual root. And it works fine for the virtual root if I explicitly specify the index_html page. i.e. http://www.domain.com/index_html. However for the very root of the site, if I call it by the domain only i.e. http://www.domain.com it does not work at all. The resultant HTML contains a <BASE> tag <base href="http://www.domain.com/sitefolder/" /> which seems to screw everything up. All the urls on this home page start with http://www.domain.com/sitefolder/ instead of http://www.domain.com/ as if the host monster is not working at all. I then tried to add a new rewrite directive to apache to send all requests for http://www.domain.com/ to http://www.domain.com/index_html in a hope to avoid this problem, but that seems to have no effect (perhaps I am not doing it correctly) Any help would be appreciated Thanks Tom Cameron
