a LOT of users and roles

Hi there, i need some hints about security with a large number of users and roles. We will have a lot of pages that are within 100 - 200 categorys. Any one of 5000 users will have the right to access documents within any combination of those categorys. Defining 200 roles doesn't seem right, because the security-tab would become huge. Does anybody know a better alternative? My idea was to create a new security-tab that is simpler. There will also have about 50 000 users that will be able to customize the site. There are products to sync a folder to a userfolder, but i don't know how zope handles that many objects within one folder. The other option would be to use a database aware userfolder and store any other info into the database too. Any comments? Thank you in advance Nils Decker

Translator/render() strangeness

I just tried to use Translator in 2.3.1 for the first time. It behaves strange when I use <dtml-lvar some_image>, and it seems to hinge on something in DT_Util.render(): def render(self, v): "Render an object in the way done by the 'name' attribute" if hasattr(v, '__render_with_namespace__'): v = v.__render_with_namespace__(self) else: vbase = getattr(v, 'aq_base', v) if callable(vbase): if getattr(vbase, 'isDocTemp', 0): v = v(None, self) else: v = v() return v When I use <dtml-lvar some_image>, the image is eventually passed to render() by Translator/LocalizeTag. Some print statements reveal in this case: type(v) = <extension class Acquisition.ImplicitAcquirerWrapper at 40201e60> callable(v) = 1 type(vbase) = <extension class OFS.Image.Image at 85acac0> callable(vbase) = 1 So render calls the line "v = v()". Catalog and Core Session Tracking Updaters

Hi, Would anyone be interested in an external method which updates all the ZCatalogs in a ZODB to use the new BTrees? Likewise for CST 0.7 to CST 0.8? I mentioned these a while back but they got bumped due to other commitments, btu they've becoem important again. If people are interested, I could make them public... cheers, Chris

Problems with 2.3.1?

Has anyone had any trouble with 2.3.1 crashing? I'm running mine on a Mandrake 7.0 i386 linux box and it seems to be crashing every couple of days. Using result from a sql query in another query

Hello, I am having some problems on doing subject ... maybe I havent't understood the <dtml-in> and <dtml-with> tags properly but ... I need to do the following. First I need to find all specific clips belonging to a show. I do it like this: <dtml-in sqlGetShowClips> It returns a lot of records. Now for each record I need to find a servername in a server table and a filename in a filename table. The sqlGetShowClips returns some columns named serverid and fileid. I tried to do this: <dtml-with sqlGetServerName> <dtml-with sqlGetFilename> But it doesn't find anything. Is there a good explanation of how I "nest" these calls ??? I need the values to generate a URL Gitte

Hello Shane, I have it working as suggested and it picks all the members I had added using the mysqlUserFolder interface, now I have to integrate this into the CMF registration and log in form. The _addUser method, is this something I have to create or can I use the existing docNewUser form provided with mysqlUserFolder? Can you expand on this. Try deleting the current acl_users and replacing it with a mysqlUserFolder. Authentication should work. The new user registration process should work if mysqlUserFolder has an "_addUser" method.
