Accessing the subfolders in zope

Hi all I need some advice as to how i access the subfolder of a folder. This is my code so far but i seem to be stuck. any help appreciated. I have a folder called eSessions and under which i have created another folder (say xyz) which i am passing as a parameter to this python script. My aim is to access that subfolder and add a property as shown below but i am confused how to access this xyz subfolder ??? The fname varialbe is passed with xyz in it as an argument. container.fname.addProperty('memberid',1,int) (this line gives me a problem) print propertyItems return printed thanks bobby

converting from XMLdocument to parsedXML

Hey Friends! I'm in the process of converting to parsedXML, and after browsing the zope-xml archives, I'm still stumped... Maybe it's too early in the morning to think about this... =) Can anyone that's using the parsedXML product, offer me a few hints? I don't think I'm too far off. Passing namespace from DTML to Python Script

Hi, I want to call a python script from DTML and pass the namespace, the trouble is, the PS needs to be called from a python expression in DTML. So, taking the simple DTML method: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-let test_thang="'Test Thang'"> <dtml-var "test_ps" html_quote> </dtml-let> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> ...and a simple python script (with namespace bound to _): return _['test_thang'] ..which of coruse, doesn't work, it gives me: <PythonScript instance at 01B17ED0> ..so change <dtml-var "test_ps" html_quote> to <dtml-var "test_ps()" html_quote> and now I get: Error type: KeyError Error value: test_thang ...fair enough thinks me, I need to do the old dtml trick and so change to: <dtml-var "test_ps(_.None,_)" html_quote> ...and now I get: Error type: TypeError Error value: no arguments expected ...OK, irritating, but lets try changing the parameter list to 'context, _': Finally I get what I want: Test Thang However, now I want to call it somewhere else as just <dtml-var test_ps>, I get: Error type: TypeError Error value: not enough arguments; expected 2, got 0 ...at this point my head exploded and I thought I'd mail the list. Can anyone explain how Ishould eb doing this? cheers, Chris

Chris, If you are going to use wxPython, check out wxDesigner. (http://www.roebling.de) It's not free and it's not Open Source, but it's only $US89 and it can act as a decent RAD tool. It can build a lot of your app's GUI framework. I have not used wxDesigner a lot yet, but I bought the BlackAdder personal use (beta) package. Largely a waste of money. It's debugger is nearly useless and BA crashes constantly. It's aspect as an extension of QT designer is interesting, and it bears watching to see if it improves when they bring out the real thing. Wing IDE is nice for debugging. Wing comes with source, it's just not Open Source. I think a combo of wxDesigner and Wing would be nice (and it's what I am planning to use myself till something better comes along.) Zope and Dreamweaver WebDAV

Hi, I can access a Zope site through Dreamweaver WebDAV, but opening Zope documents presents a problem as they do not have a conventional file extension - .html, .js etc. I can vaguely remember a work around for this, but I had no use for it at the time. Anybody using Dreamweaver WebDAV and Zope at the moment have any ideas and any further tips? I have the Dreamweaver WebDAV patch downloaded from the Macromedia website. Thanks in advance David Legg

ZClass error!

Hi, I am having problems with ZClass. I`m creating a ZClass with base class OFS:File, but when I add an object of my new type it doesn`t work like it should. I can add a new object like an usual file, but when I want to view it, just show the path of the file, not data of the file. Is it a bug? Or am I doing something wrong? Categorizing products.

Hi Folks I'm new to Zope so please excuse me if I get this wrong. There seems to be an ever increasing variety of products for Zope. Looking at things from a commercial perspective it would be nice to be able to seperate the 'quality' ready-to-use products from those who are evolving or are half-complete. I just wanted to suggest a simple system of certifying products as 'Customer Ready Products' ie those that are in such a state (ie containing good help system, examples etc) that they could be sold as of the shelf products. ** Just to clarify: I said 'in such a state', rather than suggesting tehy should be sold :-) ** I know that Open Source is seen often as the opposite of the commercial world but I think there is great value in taking the best of the commercial world and applying it to Open Source. Such a simple certification could be carried out by either volunteers or DC. It could be charged for if neccesary. The benefits would be that a third party could claim to use 'Certified' products when building an application. Anyway I'd like to here any thoughts on this as I, like many would like to see Zope gain more and more recognition as a serious solution for web development. Getting the day from a Timestamp / gvibda

Hi! I have a query returning a timestamp column from my interbase 6 database using the Going Virtual database adapter. I want to extract the values of the day/month/year ... from the variable. I tried this <dtml-var date_column fmt="%d"> for the day, but it doesn't work, probably because the variable's type is not the usual python DateTime. Similarly, this <dtml-var "_.DateTime(date_column).day()"> doesn't work either. <dtml-var date_column> renders a nice string representation, so I don't really understand why the above will not work, but that's certainly my lack of python concept. Ok, now I found out that date_column is actually of a type called Timestamp, which is defined in some way in the gvibda sources. That class has a method tuple, def tuple(self): return (self.year, self.month, self.day, self.hour, self.minute, self.second) which seems to return everything I need. But how do I call that thing? In fact, every time I write something like <dtml-var "date_column.tuple()"> or <dtml-var "_.date_column.tuple()"> I get some Unauthorized exception for no apparent reason. Wow... DTML and Python aren't talking

I am trying to add functionality to the LibraryDocument product. I want to call a method I have added in the main Document.py file. If I use something like <a class="title" href="&dtml-getURL;/my_new_method" target="_blank" ><dtml-var name="title" null="(No Title)"></a> This sends the URL of a file to the method, which the method does nothing with. Right now it just says "hello". It displays the return string of the method in a new page as expected. However, if I try to call it using something like <dtml-var expr="my_new_method()"> then I just get an error. Error Type: NameError Error Value: my_new_method For anyone who knows the DocumentLibrary product, the DTML file is document_list_item and the python file is Document.py. The class I have added the method to is called Document. Regards, Simon B.
