does anybody know this problem ... I installed Zope 2.4 b1 this morning on a win2k server its running manually ( it should) - not as a service but when I start z2.py it exits without any message immediately thanks in advance, bernd

A tale of two systems....

Is there an up-to-date, cogent, step by step information on hooking up a MySQL database to Zope in Windows? The documentation I have seen is Linux-centric in a rather dogmatic fashion. While I use and love Linux at home, at work i must use Windows. We are currently testing several possible application tools - ColdFusion, PHP4 and hopefully Zope. ColdFusion and PHP4 are up and running but even after screwing around for a whole day I can't access a MySQL database with Zope. It's quite frustrating as the Zope "concept" is quite attractive. However, it is quite arcane install-wise on the Windows platform and very poorly documented in comparison to the other products when it comes to database setup. By contrast, I got MySQL on Zope up and running on my Debian Gnu Linux machine at home with one apt-get command, walked away for a few minutes and there it was, ready to use... Now, is this a comment on Windows vs Linux or on the quality of installation / implementation on the Windows side of Zope? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Retrieving ans processing multiple list selections

Hi there, I am using a form with several drop-down lists which allow multiple options to be selected. example: <select name="country" size="8" multiple> <option selected value="">entire Europe <option value="1">France <option value="2">Germany ..................... <option value="15">Denmark <option value="16">Spain </select> The selections are used in an ZSQL-Method: SELECT x, y, COUNT(lfdnr) AS Anzahl FROM table <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-sqltest country type=int multiple optional> <dtml-and> .................... </dtml-sqlgroup> GROUP BY x, y, z The result of the ZSQL-Method is shown on a report page with <dtml-in ZSQL-Method size=50 start=query_start> ...................... Before displaying the result of the query I would like to summarize the selection like: "You have selected: country: France and Denmark age-group: 10-14 years and 15-19 years ----- Here is the result of your query: <table> As long as only one option is selected is can use <dtml-if expr="country=='1'"> France <dtml-elif expr="country=='2'"> Germany .................... However, if multiple options are selected, <dtml-var bl> will return a list of values like ['3','4','6'] and the above 'translation' doesn't work any more. Q u e s t i o n: How can I process ('translate') the list-values? Is there a way to directly adress the option text??? skip_unautorized is based on what permission?

Good day, I was hoping to be able to simply control what buttons get displayed on a form, depending on user roles, by using the skip_unauthorized attribute of dtml-in. I have not been able to make it work so far, so I would appreciate some help. The dtml-in statement is: <dtml-in "problemTable.objectItems('formButton')" skip_unauthorized> where formButton is a ZClass I defined. I would like to restrict permissions to some of my buttons to certain roles, so that they only get displayed when the user has the relevant role. I thought that using skip_unauthorized would be easier than adding tests on the user in my own code (why add more code if built-in facilities can do what I need). I have tried to change the 'View' and the 'Access contents information' permissions for my button objects, but neither does what I would hope. 'Access contents information' seems to do nothing at all, and 'View' pops the login panel, which I assumes happens within the body of the dtml-in. I can't see what other permission to change within the available list, to make dtml-in skip the object. Any clue? Cheers, Jean

WinMe / Win2k / RedHat / data.fs

Henny(s), This weekend I successfully re-partitioned my hd and got redhat 7.1 running, got the network running, got apache running. Next break I get, I'll get zope running. Then the big plan is to get my wiki moved to linux/zope, AND port my asp/sqlserver apps to PHP/postgresql. Then maybe I'll make another linux partition out of dev/hda1 where winMe lives. I'll get another box for win2k and my legacy asp--someday. My data.fs is actually about 300meg: 1/3 of a gig. Yes, zope was running on the win2k box before I copied the winMe data.fs. Then nostart. No error either, as I remember, just hung. No, haven't tried the export/import. I'll have to look into that. Won't work for me if source and target have to be running at the same time, cause now I am wanting to go from winme to linux on dual boot--same machine. I have used the FS product to write folders and items to the filesystem, then FTP those to another zope. That works, I'll have to recreate all the ownership, but that's doable. The best way to debug Xron methods is to enable the STUPID_LOG_FILE, schedule the method for execution soon, and view the results in the log file. PoPy.2.0.1 Needs Postgresql?

The error I get is listed below. I'm trying to install the stuff that will allow for me to work with Postgresql, and I'm following the HOWTO -- actually, I'm not. I can't believe that I have to *un*install Postgresql to get PoPy to work. That doesn't make sense. Besides, I don't work with source much anyway, I've got Debian ;-) Anyway, I did the ./configure, and this is the error I get. Anyone know what I can change to get it to work? checking for PQconnectStart in -lpq... no configure: error: can't build without PostgreSQL libraries Thanks! Russell
