Hi, is there a 'cheap' way to retrieve the items that have been changed or added ? Do I have to use ZCatalog to acheieve this ? Thanks in advance.

A date type for ZSQLMethods?

Frequently, I need the following syntax in ZSQLMethods: <dtml-sqlvar LastModified type="date"> ^^^^ Where LastModified is a string suitable for conversion to a DateTime instance and #mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss# is returned. I am getting there by using: <dtml-var expr="_.DateTime(LastModified).strftime('#%m/%d/%y %H:%M:%S#')"> but it took forever to work that out (with loads of help from people on this list - thanks). Is this a sensible addition to the ZSQLMethod product, or is there a better way that I have missed? If so, would I patch the original (not my idea of fun:-) or subclass SQLVar? As a member of the Python illiterati - I've got the Programming Python book, but haven't fully grasped it yet - I wouldn't mind some clues on how to do this. Not urgent, of course. Regards Neil

Restrict object list in folderish product, it works, but how?

Last week I asked on this list how to develop a folderish Python-based product, and how to use ZPT's in a product. To restrict the list of addable objects, in the folderish object I override all_meta_types inherited from ObjectManager. This method returns a tuple of dictionaries. Every dictionary contains the name of the object and the method the ZMI must invoke to create an instance. return ({'name':'Foo', 'action':'manage_addProduct/FolderishProductDemo/addFooForm'}, (Full source code on http://www.zope.org/Members/rpijlman/FolderishProduct/RestrictAvailableObjec ts) I've copied the idea from the Mailbag product. It works, but what is this manage_addProduct/... method? What does it do precisely? Why can't ZMI call addFooForm directly? Can someone shed some light on this? Regards, René Pijlman

Macromedia Fireworks

Hello, I have created several buttons using macromedia fireworks, and have exported it correctly to zope. My problem is that, if I have the following setup: --Main_Folder --index_html --ButtonFolder --HomeButtonFolder (containing all the items for the home page button) home_dtml home.png home.gif hoem2.gif .... --SerachButtonFolder (ditto but for search button) etc etc Now in the Properties Tab from the Main_Folder I have assigned a simple values to the home_button object and search_button object, so that: Name Value Type title string home_button /HomeButtonFolder/home_dtml string search_button /SearchButtonFolder/search_dtml string everytime I try to call this object I only get the link displayed without the actual button showing. I call it from the Main_Folder, by creating a dtml method for example, navigation_bar: <dtml-var home_button> result /HomeButtonFolder/home_dtml How do I get to execute the home_dtml from the Main_Folder? DateTime inside an in loop

I want to use DateTime on a date value returned in a ZSQLMethod. E.g. Say the SQL for get_records() ZSQLMethod is SELECT ID, adate FROM DateValues I want to do something like this: <dtml-in expr="get_records()"> <dtml-var ID> <dtml-var expr="_.DateTime(adate).strftime('%d-%b')"> </dtml-in> I have tried all sorts of syntax to get a result, with no result. Question 1: Can someone tell me the correct syntax please? Question 2: Can someone 'teach me to fish' by showing me the path to some documentation on namespaces? I have searched and read a fair amount today without actually getting enlightenment:-( Thanks a lot Neil

More Calling Dtml-Methods with variable names

OK, I have a small problem now. This is my main DTML document1: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var expr="_.getitem(someMethod,1)"> <p> That's all. </p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> Let's say the variable someMethod holds the string 'Method1'. The DTML Method 'Method1' holds this: <h1> HELLO </h1> This actually outputs what you would expect: 'header stuff' HELLO (bold) That's all. 'footer stuff' But what if Method1 is not in the same folder? For example, if it's in the folder 'Methods' which is in the folder that the main document is in. I can't seem to get that to work. I've tried this: <dtml-var expr="_.getitem('Methods.'+someMethod,1)"> and I've tried changing the variable name to 'Methods.Method1', but each of these gives me an error: This resource may be trying to reference a nonexistent object or variable Methods.Method1. Using Methods.Method1() does not make a difference. If I just put in <dtml-var expr="Methods.Method1()"> it works. Not what I want though. Thanks for you time reading through this message. I'm really just experimenting with Zope right now, trying to learn what it can do and how it accomplishes those things. Saving on a different folder?

Hi, how can I save ZClass instances on a specified folder that is not the one I am using to call a DTML method that create these instances? regards, Rogerio
