ZPT - equivalent of dtml-unless

Hi all, I have a ZPT page which can optionally get a parameter, dn, which gets used in a call to a Script (Python). If I was doing this with DTML, I would use something like, <dtml-unless dn> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('dn','o=cm')"> </dtml-unless> to set a default value for dn. However I can't quite figure out how to set default values for vars in a ZPT page. The best I've come up with so far is this: <span metal:fill-slot="userList_slot" tal:content="structure python:here.userList(dn=request.dn)" tal:on-error="structure python:here.userList(dn=None)">User List goes here</span> Which is fine if there is only one var but what if there are more? From database to acl_users

Hi, I know how to get users/passwords/roles in straight Python/mxOdbc from a corporate database. I want to give Zope permissons to those users in addition to those from the "acl_users" folder. Means that when a user logs for basic authentication, it's credentials must be compared with "natural" acl_user folder then with this database. Any idea or related product ? TIA. --Gilles

in/let not working as expected

on Zope 2.3.3 binary on windows -- <dtml-in objectValues skip_unauthorized> <dtml-let obj=sequence-item> <dtml-var getId> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> try this in your / and it will error on the standard_error_message (thats what teh Error Type business is about). Q: if I do this with DTML Method it screws up. It appears that DTML Methods (when in objectValues) will call themselves on <dtml-let obj=sequence-item>, which is unexpected? I would expect that obj would *only* get a refernce to sequence-item is this the only gotcha using in/let together? am i diagnosing this correctly? thanks, ~runyaga

Seems those valuables never been read by Zclass (or I should say constructor???) <<< What you need to do is call "propertysheets.PROPERTYSHEETNAME.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST)" for every property sheet you want to update. (Note that it is not edit but change that you should use.) You would have five of these, one for each property sheet. All attibutes in the property sheet matching a key from the REQUEST will be updated with the value from the REQUEST associated with the key. I do this in a PythonScript, but it should work with dtml-call as well. Also, unless you're changing the default catalog of a (presumably) CatalogAware object, with manage_editCataloger, I don't think you need to reindex. And if you do, it should go after you change the properties. And it should probably be a plain index, since it never was in that catalog in the first place. At least that's what work for me. --jcc (yay objects!)

ANN: Tutorial for Zope Page Templates

Right on time! I was just looking at zwiki this and zfishbowl that trying to find something *new* because the old docs make me want to wait and see if they ever implement the same *features* into DTML. DTML hurt so good. I'm afraid if I go after ZPT I'm going to start looking at chains and leather in a whole new light. Yes it looks good on the surface, but to me it hurts like heck trying to figure out what it does. Thanks for the effort people. -Jimbo

ZPT - using templates based on variables

This would open up the possibilities no end, imagine skins using ZPT. Anyone have any ideas? Phil

redirecting from within an access rule

hi there i am trying to set up an access rule, so that requests to different domains will be redirected to the "default" domain. e.g. http://www.espra.com/foo/bar would redirect to http://espra.net/foo/bar, where "espra.net" is the default domain. to do this, i have a TinyTable (redirect_index) setup: ---------------------------------- | host_name, redirect_to ---------------------------------- | "espra.org", "espra.net" | "espra.com", "espra.net" | "www.espra.org", "espra.net" | "www.espra.net", "espra.net" | "www.espra.com", "espra.net" ---------------------------------- and an access rule: <dtml-in "redirect_index(HTTP_HOST)"> <dtml-unless "redirect_to == ''"> <dtml-let to_new_url="_.string.replace(URL0,HTTP_HOST,redirect_to)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(to_new_url)"> </dtml-let> </dtml-unless> </dtml-in> i had hoped that the above would redirect to the "default" domain, if it found any of the other domains, in the TinyTable however, the redirect doesn't seem to work as expected within an AccessRule. it redirects all urls to http://espra.net irrespective of the part after the server url e.g. http://www.espra.com/foo/bar would redirect to http://espra.net instead of redirecting to http://espra.net/foo/bar so.... what exactly am i doing wrong here? -- best regards, tav tav(a)espnow.com

Web mail system: Worldpilot, GUM or... recommendations?

We are currently looking for a Web mail agent, either using something already available on the net or, maybe developing our own. We do not really want to reinvent the wheel. Worldpilot was examined as a good alternative, having exactly the features we currently need, working on the platform of choice (Zope) but, it looks like the latest stable release is for Zope 2.1.x actually all of our sites now run 2.3.3. Even tough Worldpilot installs on Zope 2.3.3, it does have some problems here and there. Has anyone fixed them? Sourceforge pages of WP seem to be abandoned...no response to patches or requests. If anyone can provide comments as of Worldpilot's status running on newer (or latest) version of Zope, it'd be great. Also, comments regarding a project named GUM are welcome. Additional uggestions of other products for the same purpose will be good to have as well. Thanks in advance Felipe Barousse

How to batch upload Photos to ZAlbums?

I'd like to upload Photo images to a ZAlbum page, the same way it's possible to upload images to a standard folder, via FTP. Is it possible to modify the FTP utility to treat incoming files as product objects like Photo.? Thanks in advance, Ausum

General variable use

Hi! I have a general question about calling variables - or maybe calling functions... the best way is to show with an example. I think you can tell what I'm trying to do here: <dtml-var expr="get_your_info(name=<dtml-var expr="_.SecurityGetUser ()")"> I haven't gotten in to much of the details of python yet, so maybe I just need to get a little further along. The basic question is passing functions as arguments to a function. I hope that made some sense. Thanks Jeremiah
