Zope blocking client side image caching??, slow site loading

I am building a zope version of a asp website, done by another division in our company. Unfortunately it is much slower than the ASP one. The asp based site loads slow for the first page, but al subsequent pages are loaded fast due to the browser caching the navigation images. In the zope version the images seem to be reloaded for every new page request. Is there any way to change this and speed up loading of the Zope served pages. For comparison the asp site is http://www.unitekequipment.com the zope site is at http://209.48.159.60:8080/uml/ Regards, Frank

Can any of you recommend a good book for MySQL? Particularly one with a good write up about integrating MySQL with Python? I want to use MySQL with Zope, but I also want to use it for other (non-Zope) purposes using Python and/or Kylix. Cheers, Ron

virt.hosting & site root

TIP: use -D to debug products not loading

hi, Just wanted to report: I've just spent 90 minutes setting up PageTemplates on a virtual server we have here. The zope installation I'm using as the basis of it was running under a different group than that of the target server. I couldn't figure out why PageTemplates wasn't showing up in the Products folder. However, turning on the -D option in the 'start' script showed that the PageTemplates product was having a problem loading up a 'gif (of all things). Once I set the permissions correct the product loaded up fine. Thing is, I wouldn't have found the problem if I hadn't turned on the -D option. hope this helps tone.

Stop Interpreting My ASCII!!!

Hi; This is probably a Python question, but I'm using this tag:  When an object is selected it_gets_read_as_ASCII, thus, this line: <select> looks like this: <select> As a result, I can't use HTML! How do I keep it from doing that? TIA, BenO

If I had a dtml method in /register/mail and I wanted to use it (<dtml-var mail>) in a dtml document in say /profiles/information, how would I reference this method since the are in separate sub folders? md5 routines inside python script does not work!

Hi folks! I facedd with a strange zope behavior. i am trying to get a digest for a string, using md5 routines, but zope request to provided (again) with a user/password. What i cannot understand is that i logged in with a manager account. Here is the script: import random, string, md5 def strrnd(nlen = 24) : result = '' while nlen : nlen -= 1 result += random.choice(string.hexdigits) return result a = md5.new(strrnd() + icn + container.REQUEST.environ['HTTP_USER_AGENT'] + container.REQUEST.environ['REMOTE_ADDR']) return a.hexdigest() Since zope ask again and again for a user/password i hit cancel and the html returned is: May some one PLEASE help me correct the problem? Ordered navigation solutions ?

hi.. i had to work with a commercial CMS for the last two month which had a nice feature: a navigation tree which could be used for creating a site structure. It was basically a list like the <dtml-tree> tag would create, with every entry pointing to a specific page of the website. I was wondering how to emulate something like this in zope, and found it sometimes diffucult: I was just using folders for sitestructure, and then looping through these folders (<dtml-in "REQUEST.PARENTS[-2].objectValues('Folder')"> e.g.) Everything was fine, when i discovered the fact, that i had no control on how this list was returned. Let's imagine a Website with the primary navpoints, "About" "Products" "Support" "Sitemap" in this order. How to force it to this order ?? Or someone might want to add another navpoint, let's say, "Contact", which should go right after "Support". I haven't found a way of doing so. The best thing imo would be to completly separate the navigation from the internal "file system" structure (ok, it's not a true filesystem.. but still..) Are there any solutions out there solving this problem ? Best Regards, Justin Heesemann

CookieUserFolder - how to force a logout

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to logout a user with CookieUserFolder. Can someone provide an example of using a link to logout a user? I'd like to add this to standard_html_header. Looks like a great tool, but the docs are a bit sparse for my limited knowledge. (That's my problem, not the authors). An example would be helpful. This would be a great addition to the Zope core! I'll keep looking at the code and post an example if I figure it out ;-) Thanks, Mark
