File object converted into string ????

Hello again - I am sorry to bother you guys so much today I just get this weird error thing ... a file I'm trying to upload through http is being converted into a string ???? I'm not doing anything unusual ... and the upload code works in another context. I have this form field on a page with a file field ... I browse for a file and hit the submit button. When the code reaches the lines of the upload action I get this error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: 'string' object has no attribute 'filename' And the REQUEST object tells me this: file '/home/gitte/405themovie.rm' This should have been a file object :-(( I am not touching the file argument before I try to upload it .. I can't see what is going wrong. This is weird

I hope there is someone out there who can help me, because I think I'm going crazy here :-))) First I got a lot of errors calling a method of an object in a python module. Well I thought, I'll just create a python script in my folder in ZMI and call that instead. This script will then call the method of the object. The python script is called clip_edit and is placed in the same folder as the script calling the edit_clip script .. (hope you are not confused *S*) But I get this error: NameError: clip_edit But they are placed in the same folder !!! Greetings Zopesters, I'm about to prepare a content system that is interface by HTML and/or shockwave. A list of coordinates is posted and dated records are read in from (the decision here) the DBMS or ZopeFolderZClass scheme plotted to these coords. It happens quite often and it is a multi-user system, to optimally executing multiplie simultaneous requests are the largest deciding factor. What I am wondering is if to build my content hiearchy using Folders with Attributes on a ZClass schema, or Postgres records with BLOBS contianing the HTML. What is the performance factor? A) Zope is single threaded, but capable of decoupling, thus a multi-threaded dbms will open many threads per user. So 5 users hit the site, 5 threads are started and Zope will RESPOND back single-threadedly. Yes? (1 point for postgres) B) Folder reading doesnt require anymore than Zope, thus there is less activity as far as dbms threading, so folder reading in per request is quicker, and more dependent of the servers I/O speed (U2W scsi, RAID, whooaa!) and the content creation model is easier to tackle to create objects. (1 point for Folders/Attributes/ZClasses) These are the two biggest pros and cons but I hope someone like Dieter and Chris that knows the guts of zope can advise me. Perhaps a dual-usage schema could be used. Objects are created using ZClasses and reside in Zope (for crawler indexing and client bookmarking, and no query strings) and each has its index duplicated in Zope for application indexing purposes. The actual Zope object wouldnt be requested until its page was needed, and not its presence in an index. I think that would be the best of both worlds. Comments, or did I just solve my own problem? Problems importing

Hi! I've got a problem that's bothering me no end. I'm trying to import a file (gskolan.zexp) exported from Zope 2.3.0 into my 2.3.3, but I keep getting the following message: "The object gskolan does not support this operation." I ran this through the Wing debugger to try to figure out where things go wrong, because the Zope debug output only told me the error was in "_verifyObjectPaste". First, I get a KeyError exception in ZPublisher/HTTPRequest.py, line 884, method __getitem__ of class HTTPRequest. The value of the variable key at this time is "__nonzero__". The exception generating the message I see is located at OFS/CopySupport.py, line 440, method _verifyObjectPaste of class CopyContainer. Interesting data: meta_types = ({'name': 'Product', 'action': 'manage_addProductForm'},) mt = "Folder" method_name = None What happens is that the exception is reached because method_name is None, which in turn happens because none of the entries in meta_types has a ['name'] that is "Folder". The only that exists is "Product"! Does this mean I can only import products this way? Because of the KeyError exception, I grepped the documentation for "__nonzero__" and found a bugfix mentioning it from 2.3.1. Could this whole thing be occuring because I'm importing a file exported from 2.3.0 to a 2.3.3? I don't have access to the 2.3.0 server to upgrade it. Maybe I could try installing a 2.3.0, importing, upgrading and then exporting. I'd be very thankful for any feedback on this problem! /Danni

Zcatalog and Siteroot

Hi, I installed a Zcatalog on my site few days ago to search on my Zclass instance. It's worked properly until I installed a SiteRoot. Before, the articles were stored in the Catalog with this object identifier : common/badim/folderA/object and now, because of the SiteRoot, when I had new article, they're stored as folderA/object. Not a big deal I tought. Hellow everyone, I'am new in the arena and hope to become a Zope Master by the next months. But for the moment I am fighting with my Linux Box !!! (I'am young to this aswell !!). I've decided to eliminate W*!§ù%$£? from my machine, but that's not always so easy. And we get to my first question!!!! I've tried to make a simple install of Zope 2.3.3 in my /opt dir (wich is a separate partition too). So I uncompressed the tarball, cd to the dir newly created, and run the install script. I've tried this sequence many times, logged under both my user account and root, I've in both cases full rights on my Zope dir. But the script never ends to answer " not enough params".I've read the script help about the different options & syntaxes, but I think I've to recognize that don't really understand it. Finding the object there are being "worked on"

Hello I was wondering if I could find out what object (just it's id) there are in the namespace ??? Not very good explanation :-) Here's my problem: I have some objects of one type that I want to "convert" to another type (create a new object of another type). Now I have managed just well to create the objects - now I just want to update their properties. The object I am trying to update has a method called SetMasterFile. Now whenever I try to call it I get this error: NameError: SetMasterFile Now I'm suspecting that it is because the method is called from the object I am converting from .. if you know what I mean. So is there some way I can check what object is calling the method ?? Golives Webdav and ZClasses

Hello, working with Golive's Webdavsupport is a nice feature but does anyone know a workaround with unknown objects like ZClasses. If you try to download them, you get an empty folder. Does anyone know a helpfile Golive-Zope!? Thanks.
