CMF-Calendar

Greetings all Posted this message earlier to the cmf list but there seems to be little traffic there today, so reposting to the main list. Hope thats ok. Just started playing with CMF again (1.1) after a long hiatus. Its come a long way since the early PTK days. Congrats to all the coders.. I am having problems installing the CMF-Calendar though. Followed the HowTo from http://cmf.zope.org/Members/frankmc/UsingCalendarTag/ and it seems to choke on line 3 of the dateMunger. While there are comments to this on the site there is no solution posted. Using the supplied script from the referenced site. http://cmf.zope.org/Members/andrew/projects/CMFCalendar/dateMunger resluts in the traceback below. Any comments or suggestions would be helpful. Also where is the link to CVS versions or is this locked down to developers only? Hi, Thats cool, but what I was looking for was to log the increase during a set period of time, and I think the best way was as suggested to use a cronjob. Many thanks for all your advice. Frankly, I don't see how a light-weight workflow system like that is really all that Zope-like. It provides, AFAIK, no development environment, no object-database, no access to heterogeneous external data, no content-repository. It provides a "file-server-based approach," which of course means all this product does is workflow and file versioning! If anything, whatever sitespring is, it likely competes with the various content management products for Zope and not Zope itself. And those products provide workflow - however, they also allow you to create custom types of objects, something I am pretty sure you can't easily do in sitespring... My guess is in order to get something like SiteSpring to work with similar functionality, you have to buy CF server, 3 zillion copies of Dreamweaver Ultradev, and every other Macromedia product in existence and you would still only be about 1/3 of the way... Any .com production departments for companies big enough to need something like SiteSpring would be better off using a CMS with a content repository, or use a source-code versioning system instead of a static-file based production management system. Using Zope

Hello: I've been given the task of exploring the use of Zope for a department that we support. I have just been going through some of the manuals and online documentation. The creation of pages seems very basic and understandable from my viewpoint. However, the material I have found doesn't seem to address the use of Zope by non-HTML/basic scripting literate people (or at least how to develope a framework for non-web literate people to use). The department that we have in mind couldn't tell a <p> tag from an <ol> tag. They have only ever used a WYSIWYG interface. My question is, does anyone know where I can find information or a "tutorial" on how to create a framework like this? So that your average secretary can just update the actual text of the page much like in a WYSIWYG editor fashion? Or are we better suited by a different product? Thank you! Thank you all for the helpful responses! It's always nice when you at least have a direction to head. I will have to take a look at all of the options you sent me and see what I can come up with. I think that if we can find a way to make the interface like you have suggested Zope might fly. I do have another question though...Say I want a custom header and a custom footer...and maybe even a custom left navigation bar...and I go with the Dreamweaver version...the Dreamweaver file will have extra <html><head><title><body> tags...what is the suggestion to take care of this? As in I just want them to be able to edit the middle section... Thank you, thank you!
