Tutorial resolution

Just began the ZOPE tutorial and all is well, however it doesn't seem as if the python print statements within the tutorial are resolving correctly. They are simply printing as "t" or ">", not the referenced function or element names. As this negates any value the tutorial has, can anyone offer suggestions as to what the trouble may be? ------------------------------------------ Seamus M. Macromedia SiteSpring

Hi: Just a quick heads up so that you all are aware of a possible Zope competitor or, if you take a opposing view, to be aware of someone blatantly copying Zope ;-) Macromedia has launched its SiteSpring product which allows you to collaborate, manage and communicate when doing web projects. The site is at http://www.macromedia.com/software/sitespring/ and, if you watch the Quicktime movie or install the demo, even the goddam menus are Zope-alike. Emulation aside, it does raise some issues, namely on the workflow/communicate functionalities. How is Zope going to cope ? Do we have products available that bring Zope up to the same level ? Acquisition newbie question

Hello, here is my problem : 2 folders in the root directory : /site /site_html_header /entrep /site_html_header /ressources /content /Etudes /test I want to use the url : /site/entrep/ressources/content/Etudes/test and use in /test the site_html_header of /entrep. When I use this url it use the site_html_header of /site. What can i do to have the acquisition working from /ressources to /site order instead ? MS Access interfacing

I'm managing a site with lots of different info. It's Linux+Apache, with a brand spankin' new Zope install. I'd like to add more info and features to the site, most of it dynamic, and just about all of it somebody else's responsibility to maintain. My best success so far has been with Excel spreadsheets. In this case, the page maintainer stores it on an NT server, and I run a cgi script that ftp's a copy over, and then it gets displayed via xl2html. This has the advantage of making a local copy for a backup, in case something untoward should happen, and the it's completely transparent to the person responsible for maintaining the page. As far as he's concerned, it just magically gets updated on the website. This works, primarily because the spreadsheets are pretty much under 50kb. Now I'm faced with searching a 20Mb Access database and displaying selected records from it. Downloading a new copy with every access at 20Mb is prohibitive, and it's not updated so often as to be important. I can manually stash it wherever necessary as needed. The first question is where to stash it. I want to avoid installing new software or services on the various machines, though I certainly could, within reason and limitiation. Ideally, I want to just stash it on the Linux server, and have Zope take care of the interface and display. But looking at the Jet ODBC connectors, it appears that they really want to live in Windows. Which is all well and good. The database maintainer is using a Windows machine, and I have our local NT server, either will do, but I'd rather not install Python on either of them if I didn't have to, though I can if needs must. Which also brings me the question, how does my Linux Zope installation talk to the Windows server hosting the database? By way of the connector? I hope this all isn't too basic... Thanks Bruce

safe strings in calling SQL

Hi, I am implementing a search form where some strings will be used in SQL methods. I does not seem to be very safe to use a construct like select record from table where field like "%<dtml-var string_from_form>" because of the obvious hack where somebody fills in a string like: bla"; drop table important_table; Zope does contain some features where I can limit the imput to fields in forms, but the users really want to search for a string value. Is there any product for this? How should I create an edit form?

I have created a zclass to represent online user profiles. I have a property sheet to edit the fields and all works well. But now, I want to create a page (not through management) to allow users to change their own profiles. I am not really sure how I should do the following: Lookup the profile matching the user based on how they are logged in? Show an edit form with the values prepopulated (Can I do this with property sheet somehow)? Any help would be appreciated. Having problems getting Accelerated HTTP Cache Manager to work

Hi, I'm using Zope 2.3.2 with Apache and Rewrite Rules. I set up caching using mod_proxy with the following settings: CacheRoot "/var/cache/httpd" CacheSize 10240 CacheGcInterval 1 CacheMaxExpire 24 CacheLastModifiedFactor 0.1 CacheDefaultExpire 1 I then added the following to standard_html_header: <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Expires', _.DateTime(_.DateTime().timeTime() + 3600).toZone('GMT').rfc822())"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Last-Modified', bobobase_modification_time().toZone('GMT').rfc822())"> This works fine and everything gets cached. Then I removed the above calls and instead installed an Accelerated HTTP Cache Manager (and associated all my DTML Methods with it). This time no caching took place. I then unncommented the line that sets the Last-Modified header (line 175 in AcceleratedHTTPCacheManager.py). This time caching worked. Several posts on this list indicated that Last-Modified is not required for caching. If that's true, why can't I get caching to work without touching the source? Am I missing anything in my settings or in using the Cache Manager? storing files external from Zopedatabase

regards, how is it possible to upload and store files external from the database of Zope? I've got a lot of pdf-files to store and the maximum of 2GB space isn't fare away then. [Zope can only store 2GB all in all, or not?] so- how do I upload and store files external? [Do I have to define a new product or is there already one?] thx, Christian

CookieUserFolder :top urgent : how to use it?????????

Hello, just an urgent post before the week-end: I have installed the CookieUserFolder product (because he has a version number ==1.0, my philosophy is to install only >=1.0 product) Unfortunately I am not intelligent enough to use it: - there is no help instruction - the normal 'manage' user can not use it - the 'superuser' can use it but the only choices is to add document/methods/script inside. Of course the superuser can not own object in it : 'EmergencyUserCannotOwn' error. - So: I have put a CookieUserFolder in my '/test' folder. Now I can not add things in '/test' anymore. - I think I want to add users first in this CookieUserFolder stuff? no? So how has the receipt? (this look to me like another example of wonderful lack of documentation) thanks Gilles
