I would think that the best way to debug your problem is to include <dtml-var REQUEST> at the bottom of your results page, below the </dtml-in> tag... That way, you can see what the form values are. ZCatalog just looks at the REQUEST namespace for submitted form values, and uses them as searches on it's indexes. So, for example, one of my applications has a method that renders some "weighted" search text for the search engine (ZCatalog) to index - my method is called "searchTextWeighted," and it outputs the text I want indexed. There is an index added to ZCatalog's index tab for "searchTextWeighted" as a TextIndex so that I can have the results indexed, and when I pass the full query in a GET or POST form value with the name of searchTextWeighted, it seems to work. A lot of getting the search set up the way you want might involve a bit of trial-and-error, some reading, patience, and some questions to the list; I'm sure you'll get it working the way you want eventually; that's the approach that I have had to take. Perhaps when I am all done with my current project (which is very search-intensive), I will write a howto... All the extra parentheses don't seem to hurt, and seem to be necessary, to some extent. So, I guess, if you are trying to do limiting searches, you are going to have to have some code that rewrites your query text, every time wrapping your original search in parentheses and appending an AND and the new terms. The python code for this might look like: newquery='(' + oldquery + ') AND (' + newquery + ')' Then pass newquery as a form value for the index you are trying to search using your form doing a <dtml-in Catalog>. First, I've had no problem installing or indexing. The problems come with searching for specific content. It seems that the first search returns a seemingly correct result set (meaning that the list in the result set had the criteria). However, when I revised the criteria (either to narrow the result set, or to get a completely different result set) I got the original (first) result set instead. Any change in criteria yielded the same (large) result set. Have you had that problem? Are you running Apache or a proxy in front of Zope? It might be a "byte-serving" issue. For example, byte-serving (serving between byte offsets, or a page-at-a-time to acrobat reader) is implemented by Apache > 1.3.9 (I think), but is broken in 1.3.14, and fixed by 1.3.19... Problem w/ form writing to database

I am trying to build a Help Desk Trouble Ticket tracking system. I want to use a web based form to allow customers to enter trouble tickets. The problem I am having is that when I submit the form, the zope development environment pulls up its native database "test" form instead of making an entry in the database. It seems I can only enter data to my external database through the Zope "test" form. New ZCatalog Error ?

Hi, Trying to use a ZCatalog to catalog a folder containig different types of document I found the an error. I would like to stress that this error come from a DTML Method (named summary) and that this method is not call by any DTML Document I want to catalog !!! Yes, I just want to catalog DTML Documents (as I choosed in Find Objects menu) not the DTML Method !!! I reproduced this error on Zope 2.3.(2 and 3) and Zope 2.4b3 I saw this type of errors in the mailing list before Zope 2.4b3 but the problem seems to persist if it is. Bye, FR. Fw: [Zope] pdf files dont work ??

My guess is that this is likely to be an Acrobat Reader issue. My company recently had problems with this kind of thing happening, and it only happened on some machines. The solution was to download the latest version of the Acrobat Reader and install that, and this fixed the problem. This was with files served from a CGI application, but nothing to do with ZOPE. Hi, Having searched for an answer with Google and zope.nipltd.com I finally come to you for help: Why should this little snippet of Pythonscript code prompt for an username and password (even a manager is logged in) and then reject it with an error? apptRec = context.ParticipantApptSelectMethod(participant_id=result.participant_id, study_id=study_id) if len(apptRec.dictionaries()): linex = linex + ' A ' + apptRec[0].appt_date.strftime('%d\%m\%Y') The script works ok without a reference to 'strftime'. Nobody said it was a licensing issue. Of course it is a security issue (also!). If you develop commercial code (Zope, of course), you have no control of the filesystems not the management access of the target system.
