how can i deal with HTML in Zope?

ZSQL Pluggable brains broke in later Zope, can't add instance attributes

I've been using a pluggable brain with ZSQL methods to inject an instance attribute, like this: class PackageEvent: """Package Event Pluggable Brain""" def __init__(self): """initialize""" self.__dict__['eday'] = self.eventday() # self.eday = self.eventday() # setattr(self,'eday',self.eventday()) <snip> The first method (using __dict__) used to work on 2.2, but now fails on 2.3.3 I've tried the commented out methods as well. I get an attributeError when any of the above three methods are encountered. I believe some new ExtensionClass magic is causing this to fail. Record.c is too complicated for me to figure out. Do I need a self.__of__() something to do this? I can't use an instance method because I need to use <dtml-if first-eday> in my DTML methods. <dtml-var first-eventday> fails of course because eventday is a bound method, not a string. Determining Local Roles

Hello all, I have a stumper here. I am using the following code to determine the permissions of users from AccessControl import getSecurityManager user = getSecurityManager().getUser() if user.has_permission('Change DTML Documents', ob): This piece of code appears to detect appropriate permissions if the user is set up in an acl_users folder however, this piece of code does not appear to work at the "local role" level. That is to say that if I give "Jo" permissions to change the "index_html" document, the above code does not see "Jo" as having permissions to do so. Is there any way to detect the permissions at the local role level? Eric

Hi, I don't know if anybody can help me but my problem is as follows: I have managed to set-up a Z SQL query which display results (using http://localhost:8080/sql_method/id/12/viewresult) but I have to explicitly embed the fields returned from the Z SQL query. I would like instead to loop over all the fields returned from the Z SQL and dynamically generate my report for the record. I think it should be something like <dtml-in data_passed_in>..etc Any help is much appreciated. Kieran

Catching specific exceptions in Python Script?

Hi all I would like to be able to catch specific exceptions with Python Scripts: eg. try: ..... except Exception, e: ..... of try: .... except sql.error, e: .... This doesn't work as none of these exceptions are imported, also I cannot import them due to the import constraints of Python Scripts. Is there a workaround for this other than using external methods? Etienne

Somebody called Kemalus (can't find his email address) wrote this http://www.zope.org/Members/Kemalus/smart_using_namespace He says that <dtml-var foo> is better than <dtml-var "REQUEST.form['foo']"> "This allows your code to be more readable, hence more maintainable." I disagree! Looking back at old DTML I find myself wonder sometimes, "which namestack is this expected to come from?" In <dtml-var foo> 'foo' could be a method, a template, a property or any of the many REQUEST dictionaries. So debugging <dtml-var foo>, you have to search in all of this possibilities, whereas with <dtml-var "REQUEST.form['foo']"> can only come from one place. No offense Kemalus. I just constructivly critize. Readability isn't about the number of characters of text or the number of quotation marks. What do the others think? Peter

Hi everybody. I need help to use Zope. I have installed Zope 2.3.3 binary version under a linux SUSE 7.1 system. I have installed python-ldap 1.10 alpha 3 requiring Python 2.0. At zope start up I get a lot of warning like this: WARNING: Python C API version mismatch for module cStringIO: This Python has API version 1009, module cStringIO has version 1007 Have you got some suggestion about it? Do you know why?
