dynamically passing the id to a javascript function

Hello, I think this isn't that difficult but after 2 hours I get frustrated!! That's the script: The javascript.function--->>>> <script language=JavaScript>  </script> and the links --->>> <table border="0"> <dtml-in "objectValues('BasicPage')" sort=sorter> <tr> <td align='left'><a class='c' href="javascript:TwoFrames(<dtml-var id>)"><dtml-var title></a></td> </tr> </dtml-in> </table> Instead of passing the id to the Javascript-function as a string the Javascript-Interpreter tries to evaluate a variable (the id is undefined).I thought that the id is a string?? How do I solve this problem??

siteroot. I beg you please help!

I have a problem with siteroot. Can you help me with this? I installed a siteroot in a folder: /female Now in this folder there is an acl_users folder thus: /female/acl_users The problem here is the authentication. When I try to enter the management screen for /female it asks for auth and it does not look for the user in the /acl_users but it looks for the user in the /female/acl_users folder. ZODB transaction speed on local Zope?

Has anyone encountered the following? On two of our Zope installations (one a Win2000 box, the other a Solaris machine), changes via the ZMI take a painfully long time. For example, changing the edit textarea using the "wider" and "narrower" buttons takes 4 seconds. Similarly for object adds and deletions, copy pastes, etc. Now the bizarre thing is that accessing the same Zope instance from another machine (e.g., the w2k Zope from the Solaris machine, or vice versa) yields the snappy Zope response to which I've become accustomed. In both cases, it's Zope 2.4 using ZServer. The problem exists for both Netscape (on W2K and Solaris) and IE on the W2K machine. Any thoughts? At the moment, I'm having to go and use another machine's browser to edit my local zope. Cheers, Darran.

Invalid connection string

Hello everyone, I've got PoPy running as a database adapter, except I must have a US plug to go into a European electrical outlet! When I follow the example for connecting PoPy to my PSQL database (which is empty), I get the "Invalid connection string" error. I saw a solution to this, but it looked like a hack. I followed the example, but no dice on this, either... Anyone got any bright ideas on this? Thanks! Russell

pack trouble

Version info from the command line?

Hello everyone, I have a question: is there a way to determine the version of zope that is being run from the command line? The reason I want to know this is because I have a "brilliant" idea (just don't count on me to implement it ;-) : I see all of these Products that people are making, and they all say "Just untar this to your products directory." I'd like to have a more elegant solution, like a python script that does this for you: it finds out what Zope you're running, where the Products directory is and puts it in there, restarts zope... I can never remember the directory structure of my install, and I hate having to struggle with finding the Products directory and fiddling around with tar (I know, just being lazy, but what can I say?). I also think it would be better for people who don't want to fool around with all of these steps to install a product...they just type "install_zproduct <product-name>" or something (because this command would come with zope) and it's gunzipped, untarred, moved to the correct directory, and zope is restarted (if necessary)...voila! Hello, I have two user groups (role student and role staff). In the following setup the method view shows Information about the XY-File stored as Properties of XY.pdf. Both roles should be allowed to view this information. _The students_must_not_be able to download XY.pdf._ My Setup: +-+-DTML-Method: view I +-Folder: data I +-File: XY.pdf In order to make data/XY.pdf/view accessible to the students they must have the rights 'view' and 'Access contents information' on XY.pdf. Which means they also can download the file, which is unwanted. Now I thought for solutions: Variant A: Replace the view method by a python script show(id) which gets the Document-Id (eg XY.pdf) as Parameter and is called on the data-folder. Then setting up a proxy for show(id), so that students can call it, although they don't have any permissions on XY.pdf: +-+-python-Script: show(id) I +-Folder: data I +-File: XY.pdf I must call data/show?id=XY.pdf to get the information about XY Disadvantages: Not really object oriented. Needs writing a new show-script and rewriting other methods in the project because calls are now going to other URLs. More difficulties if show needs additional cgi-Parameters Variant B: Setting up 2 Trees, data for the staff, public for students. Write a script that copies everything from data to public except the Files like XY.pdf, which should be 0-Byte copies, but with all properties. Disadvantages: Ugly redundancy. Costs disk-space and time for copying. What do you think about my problem? What should I do? Have I overseen something and are there better solutions? Thanks in advance. Tilo
