Page Template Problem

Hello all, I'm having trouble at every turn with this: I'm going through the Page Template Tutorial, and I can add a page template, and edit it, but I can't view it! :-( I don't know why not...I click on the 'view' tab, and get a message box telling "Authentication Failed!" What's going on here? Thanks for the help... Russell

OT: creating unique IDs for table rows

Hiya all, what's a good method for creating unique IDs for rows in a table of a database? I need to create that for an unique index which will serve as foreign key to another table. I'm currently creating a string which adds a current time (GMT) and a random number then I get a SHA digest out of it. It works well for testing purposes, but I'd like to get something more orthogonal and with more "uniqueness". BTW, the underlying RDBMS doesn't support autogenerated sequences or anything like that. <dtml-var xxxx javascript_quote>

I find myself stuffing arbitrary strings into javascript pop-up displays, but those strings often contain characters (e.g. quotes) that break the genearated javascript syntax. I know there is no javascript_quote argument for dtml-var, and I probably have to filter the string with an external method. Does anyone have such an external method already in use that you could share with the list? -- Thanks -- Loren

tree-item-url bug ?

Hi, Seems its a bug of tree-item-url (Zope 2.3.3) or I missed something ? /foo/index_html (dtml doc) contains: <dtml-tree bar branches="objectValues">> <img src="&dtml-icon;"> <a href="<dtml-var tree-item-url>"><dtml-var titre></a> </dtml-tree> Renders good, but the URL links generated by "tree-item-url" forget the "root" component of the URL. In example for an object that's at "/foo/bar/anboject", the "tree-item-url" is http://localhost:8080/foo/anobject when it should be http://localhost:8080/foo/bar/anobject !!! Any clue ? TIA --Gilles

parsing XML documents into Zope

What's the best Product to use to parse XML documents into Zope? I saw a number of XML-related Products, but my attempt to install a few of them leads me to suspect that many of them are obsolete and don't even load into Zope 2.4 (or at least not with their instructions as given).

sequence-item from Python Script

Hi, I need the following Script (Python) to work: for i in context.objectIds('ORL_Art'): print context._['sequence-item'] return printed ... but it doesn't work. Obviously, I'm not expressing the _['sequence-item'] correctly. I'd be grateful for any hints... -- Milos Prudek

OT: procmail filter for zope mailing list?

Hi everyone, sorry for the OT post, but zope(a)zope.org seems to be the only list eluding my procmail mailing list filters. As a result I wind up with a whack of messages in my Inbox obscuring other stuff. Here's the filter I've got: :0 * ^TO_zope(a)zope.org $MAILDIR/zope That syntax works for at least a half dozen other mailing lists... I'm not sure why zope sneaks through it. I've tried changing the rule to search the Subject line, the From: field, different variations on these... nothing works! What's really weird is that I had it filtering properly when I was signed up through a sneakemail address (it rewrites some headers). Has anybody else run into this problem? error when starting zope on freebsd4.2

im running zope 2.3.3 on freeBSD 4.2 STABLE - #0, when i run zope's start script manually (or my /usr/local/etc/rc.d/zope.sh - manually), i get the following messages: Aug 17 20:03:54 vertigo syslogd: /var/run/utmp: Too many open files in system Aug 17 20:03:54 vertigo /kernel: file: table is full Aug 17 20:03:55 vertigo last message repeated 4 times the odd thing is that despite the errors, zope starts, and runs great. if the script runs at bootup, zope doesnt start, even tho the script completes, and no error returns. Additional information below: the machine is AMD K6/2-400, 128MB "uname -a" returns: FreeBSD <snip> 4.2-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.2 RELEASE #0: Mon Nov 20 13:02:55 GMT 2000 jkh@bento.freebsd.org:/usr/src/sys/compile/GENERIC i386 "sysctl -a | grep files" returns: kern.maxfiles: 1064 kern.maxfilesperproc:1064 kern.openfiles: 170 p1003_1b.mapped_files: 0 and "fstat | wc -l" returns: 394 at this point, i sorta see the problem, but how to fix it? thank you, Shaun
