dtml aware HTML Tidy?

First, thanks to the folks who have helped me before. The community support is helping me truely get the Zen of Zope. ;) I was wondering if anyone was using HTML Tidy (http://www.w3.org/People/Raggett/tidy/) with their Zope projects? More to the point, has anyone got the configuration files setup to accept zope files. Thanks. Chris

zope dies often

Hi there, My two Zope installations die rather often (about once a day). I have them running on a Suse Linux 7.2 I did do a binary install, and I am using Python 2.1.1 This is the startup I am using: export ZYSLOG_SERVER="localhost:514" /usr/bin/env python z2.py \ -D \ -u zope \ -z /var/lib/zope \ -Z /var/run/zwatchdog.pid \ -w 8080 \ -f 8021 \ -m '' \ -l /var/log/zope \ -M /var/lib/zope/zopelog \ 2>&1 >> /var/log/zope \ I was thinking that running a watchdog using the option -Z would restart Zope silently? Might there be a conjunction with the line export ZYSLOG_SERVER="localhost:514" I am using? using export ZYSLOG="/dev/log" Zope does not come up at all. Any help is greatly appreciated. Robert

LoginManager or exUserFolder

I'm keen to modify the authentication source I'm using to do PAM-based auth, which is reasonably trivial. However, I want to know whether I should be using LoginManager or exUserFolder or some other product. LoginManager which seems to have not been maintained in quite a while, and requires the awkward ZPatterns+DynPersist C module combination plus a patch to work on Zope2.4.1. exUserFolder seems simpler than LoginManger and runs on 2.4.1 unmodified, but isn't layed out quite as I would hope. Is there going to be a pluggable/modifiable authentication source built into Zope any time soon, and if so which one? I'll go with that one for future proofing. I've tried to do this with dtml-tree - the old www.ekit.com/www.ekno.com site uses it. I gave up - if you really want something like this, I recommend writing it from scratch yourself. dtml-tree's innards are <gollum>nassssty</gollum>. fwiw, the newer www.ekit.com site uses our own sort-of tree implementation, while www.ekno.com is still on the old dtml-tree implementation. I'd consider releasing the code, but it's so ridiculously specialised for what we need to do that it's almost certainly not worth it. external Python methods

Hi I am trying to write an external Python method and Zope cannot find the python module that I want to import. How can I set the Zope Python path so that it can find any modules that I want to use? I am using a linix machine. -Ian p.s. Many thanks to those people who helped me with some fairly basic questions I had a few weeks ago. security assertions and Python scripts

I'm aware that Python scripts (as opposed to Extension methods) do not have access to the entire Python library, but I'm confused by the following and would appreciate both an explanation and, if it's possible, instructions for setting things up so that (during development) what I tried to do would be permitted. At the beginning of one of my Python scripts I put: import pdb pdb.set_trace() which I had gotten used to doing in my product's Python code. It doesn't complain about the import (which, in retrospect, surprises me, since I thought there were only a small number of library modules that could be imported). However, when it gets to the pdb.set_trace(), it prompts for a login name and password (even though I'm already logged in) and doesn't accept mine. When I finally cancel out of the repeated login prompts, it gives me the following error: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Unauthorized Access denied for because its container, , has no security assertions. .... File Script (Python), line 2, in TestScript (Object: guarded_getattr) File /Zope/zope/lib/python/AccessControl/ZopeGuards.py, line 122, in guarded_getattr (Object: pdb) File /Zope/zope/lib/python/AccessControl/SecurityManager.py, line 149, in validate File /Zope/Zope-2.4.0/lib/python/Products/ZDebug/DebugSecurityPolicy.py, line 185, in validate (I don't know why the container is blank.) In retrospect, I would have thought that access would be categorically denied as being unsafe from the web. However, the error message implies that it would be allowed if I had the right security assertions set up. How would I do that (if it is indeed possible)?

opening a dtml-tree to a specific node

Has anyone worked out how to open a dtml-tree to a specific node? I see what needs to be done but was hoping someone had already made it work. Part 1: Change tree display to a specific state. Construct a cookie representing the desired state, using either TreeTag.encode_seq or TreeTag.encode_str With my "tree" frame as a target, display the frame's usual URL, with a ?state-s argument equal to the constructed cookie. Part 2: Simulate the clicking of the desired link by displaying its URL with my "content" frame as a target. In my case, I actually don't want to specify the entire state of the tree, just make sure that a desired node is visible, so I may have to use a variation that uses ?state-e instead of ?state-s. -- --- Mitchell
