Yes, you have completed only half of the installation process. You also have to compile and install PoPy. PoPy is a C-extension module for python that provides the actual adapter that ZPoPyDA uses to talk to PostgreSQL. Note: You did not say how you installed your Zope or your python. It makes a difference. The PoPymodule.so must be placed somewhere in the PYTHON_PATH used by your zope. Source installed zope's generally do not modify the system PYTHONPATH, and it would usually go in /usr/local/lib/python2.1/site-packages, or something like that. Binary installed Zope's generally DO modify the system PYTHON_PATH. (But I forget exactly how; I think there is a python directory in your $ZOPEHOME). As to pyschopg being actively revised... Well, so is PoPy. The least release of PoPy is what, 3 weeks old? If your using the ZMySQL database adapter, start your conection string with a "-". This disables transactions :-) so -database(a)server.domain username password ..... Putting a space after the - caused problems... You don't have the required development package needed to compile. Once you have solved that problem, you can run setup.py bdist_rpm to make an RPM for your platform, whatever that might be.

fastcgi and site root

Before I start my tale of woe, I've been all over zope.org and the mailing list archives, but I may have missed something. Please borrow my clue-by-four to whack me over the head with if I did. :-) Solaris 8, Apache 1.3.12 (Oracle's, but it really doesn't matter), Zope 2.4.1 (binary Solaris distro), mod_fastcgi 2.2.10 compiled as a DSO. The following is included into my httpd.conf: ---- LoadModule fastcgi_module /oracle/local/Apache/libexec/mod_fastcgi.so AddModule mod_fastcgi.c RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/(.*) /Zope/$1 [PT] FastCgiIpcDir /tmp FastCgiExternalServer /oracle/product/8i/Apache/Apache/htdocs/Zope \ -socket zope.soc -pass-header Authorization <Location /Zope> Options ExecCGI SetHandler fastcgi-script </Location> ---- And, of course, z2.py gets the -F /tmp/zope.soc flag. Everything is swell with the exception of one teeny tiny problem. "Zope" keeps finding its way into the URI when I use absolute_url. This is a single server and I want Zope handling the site root. I have shuffled directives around, tried the duplicate RewriteRule that I saw on one howto... no effect. How to display the owner of an object?

Hi all, I know that this has been a topic on this list before, but what I found in the archives didn't really bring me any further. All I want to do ist to display the owner of an object. Is there a way to do this easily? Basically what I want to do is something like this: <dtml-in "Catalog(sort_on='sort_date', sort_order='reverse')"> <dtml-var id_or_title> <dtml-var owner> # Is there something like this?? </dtm-in> Is there a predefined variable for the owner of the object? Interface bug?

Hi there, I think there is something that doesn't work in the interface. I'm playing with python products and sometimes the interface has problems to show the objects ids. These are the two cases: 1) The ids wouldn't show up in the left frame while they were ok in the right frame. Even after many refresh, restart etc. I was setting the id getting it from the request.id (after the add form was submitted). I fixed this by explicitely passing an "id" parameter to the add function. I don't know why I would many any difference, and infact, the id was correctly set because I could see it in the right frame. The id wouldn't show up when I tried to do 'rename' either. That was annoying because I couldn't click on the object in the left frame because it relies on the id to print the correct url path. 2) after the __init__ for my product I do something like self.id=self.id+" test" now the ids in the left frame (and during rename) are correct, showing "someId test", while the ids in the object list in the righ frame still has "someId", that is no " test" was added. Still the same after refresh and restart. so it *really* looks like there a bug somewhere. Even if my products are doing strange things there's no way why the ids in the left and right frame should be different. I can reproduce these errors every time so it's not some strange boundary condition. Has anyone noticed this? I hope this might be helpful to someone out there. Thanks G.
