Calling https urls from python script

Hello, Yesterday I asked on this list if anyone knew how to call a https url from a python script. Some nice soul told me to take a look at the urllib2. So I am doing that right now ... it has a class named HTTPSHandler() which seems to do the job .. Now I'm not very much into "cryptic" python so is anyone kind to explain what this snip from the documentation means: https_open(req) Send an HTTPS request, which can be either GET or POST, depending on req.has_data(). Okay .. I know I must call HTTPSHandler.https_open(req_argument) but what is the req_argument) ? And how do I specify that the call must use the POST method ?? TIA, Gitte Wange

Hi Zope Users! I searched the web for the following problem, but had no luck. Can someone help? Editing a Word-Document which I opened with the Explorer is no problem (Web Folder). Now, I want to open the word document for editing when I follow a link in my Zope application. I can only open it for reading inside the browser. I can't save it again because it is write protected. Opening the document outside the browser would be a solution. But what needs the URL to be like? file:///webfolder/localhost/... ? Calling DTML Document from python script

I got an object 'file' witch contains a DTML Document object. When I try to call it from a pythton script like this : print file() I get the error : Error Type: KeyError Error Value: standard_html_header So what I need to do is to print out the DTML document without it's header and footer (<dtml-var standard_html_header> and <dtml-var standard_html_footer>) and still that it's content get executed (all other dtml-var gets resolved) Anyone knows how to do that and maybe what parameter I have to pass to the print file(...) function?

Best way to do multilingual web sites ?

Hello, After quite a lot of searching, I found few informations about multilingual websites with zope. So my question is : what are you guys using to build "complex" multilingual websites? I have a common part and a per langage part of course. How should I maintain this? Is there an acquisition trick that could help? I already tried transparent folders and mirrowing folder, but transparent folder doesn't help a lot, and mirrowng fodler doesn't have ftp support... Any strategy in use? Thanks in advance, Philippe

Disappointment with mysql DA under win

Hi all! My nme is Filippo, I'm a very big newbie of zope and python. Also my english is some kind of newbie stuff. But please listen to me. The box is a win nt 2000 I have installed: Zope 2.4.1; MySQL server 2.23.39; Python 2.11; after I tryed two ways: a) mysql-python-0.9.0.win32-py2.1.exe; egenix-mx-extension; zmysqlda 2.0.8 the installation dir for the first two is c:\python21 with this I get this error after zope restart (there is the image of a brokenproduct: zmysqlda): Import Traceback Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\PROGRA~1\Zope\lib\python\OFS\Application.py", line 558, in import_product product=__import__(pname, global_dict, global_dict, silly) File "C:\PROGRA~1\zope\lib\python\Products\ZMySQLDA\__init__.py", line 91, in ? import DA File "C:\PROGRA~1\zope\lib\python\Products\ZMySQLDA\DA.py", line 92, in ? from db import DB File "C:\PROGRA~1\zope\lib\python\Products\ZMySQLDA\db.py", line 89, in ? import _mysql ImportError: No module named _mysql I think that this kind of problems are for the incorrect use of c:\python211 instead of c:\zope\bin but how can I tell to the installer of the two products (mysql-python and egenix) to use the zope bin dir? The only choice possible where c:\python211 So I tried another way: b) I download the source of mysql-python (mysql-python-0.9.0) and distutils 1.0.2. I set the path to c:\zope\bin and i do: python setup.py install (for distutils) and python setup.py build (for mysql-python) at this point after some lines there is an error it says that cannot find cl.exe (I also try to search on hard disk for cl.exe, but nothing)and exit... I'm really hopeless... what steps should I take? Where I'm wrong ? All this stuff goes great at my linux box at home but on windows I get all this errors. Please help me, I don't know where to look :-( I promise to write an howto in italian when all is ok :-) Thanks in advance! Filippo

I think I was just upset because one option to choose from has gone and because their site was saying all the time that they would offer an improved Zope hosting service after redesign, if I remember that right. Hello and sorry! I moved my mailboxes from Eudora to KMail, and accidently moved my sent emails to "outbox" instead of "sent-mail", resulting (of course) in re-sending _all_ of them. I stopped the sending after a few seconds, but the zope list still got "bombed" with ten old/new messages. So sorry for that, must have been dreaming about Zope, Danny
