How do I traverse the object-tree as a list?

I have a list of userobjects, and in objects below the userlist, the users has the local role of Manager. Whenever I delete a user I also want to delete the users localroles in the apropriate subobjects. I guess I am not the first person to run into this problem, or something like it. So is there a method that traverses the tree and returns all of the subObjects in a list like fashion ??? There is a method called "superValues()", but as far as I can see from the docs it searches up instead of down in the tree. Do I have to get recursive here? Regards Max M Max M. W. getPhysicalPath()

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but Zope seems to be reporting something from deep within... The error message is just Error Type: Type Error Error Value: first argument must be sequence of strings the last message in the stack trace is <zopedir>/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 250, in recordMetaData If I open up __init__.py for Zope (shiver), the line in question is the second one from the pair below: if hasattr(object, getPhysicalPath): path = join(object.getPhysicalPath(), '/') So it looks like somewhere along the line, my object must have overridden getPhysicalPath, but I certainly don't have any method with a name like that, and I'm subclassing SimpleItem.SimpleItem. Sorry if this question is overbroad, but I really don't know where to begin. And now there's a problem that the object can't be found - for whatever reason. Hi, How do you use the funcitons in the CMFDefault in Zope? For example, I'd like to use the function "addImage" instead of "manage_addImage". How do I do that? Accessing Properties from dtml

Hi I'm trying to access properties from dtml. Something like <dtml-var FolderA.FolderB.ItemA.PropertyA> works just fine. Now I want to use that functionality in a loop (simmilar): <dtml-in "objectItems()"> <dtml-var "'FolderA.FolderB.' + _['sequence-item'] + '.PropertyA'"> </dtml-in> would give me: FolderA.FolderB.ItemA.PropertyA FolderA.FolderB.ItemB.PropertyA FolderA.FolderB.ItemC.PropertyA ... But I want the content so I write: <dtml-in "objectItems()"> <dtml-var "_['FolderA.FolderB.' + _['sequence-item'] + '.PropertyA']"> </dtml-in> And that gives me a nice error message, telling me, that the object does not exist. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? It's probably quite easy (and a standard problem) but I'm not able to see the soliution anymore! Thanx in advance! [OT] heads up about new iis virus

Hi zopistas, sorry for being off topic and alarmist, but since this is a server list where people often might look at their log files and are curios. There is a new virus spreading through iis servers. If you see entires in your log-file, better refrain from browsing to the originator if you're using internet explorer. It alters the site's start page to deliver a readme.eml file via javascript popup with differing MIME-types. It's entirely possible that IE in standard config will execute that file and infect your workstation. No idea about netscape. Sorry for the disturbance, oliver

using OrderedFolder to navigate objects in a folder

Has anyone used OrderedFolder to create Previous and Next links to navigate between the ordered items (I need to do this with zClasses)? I am attempting to read Python source files for the first time, and dont see how to do it. I just see the functions to - 'move_object' in the folder - 'get_object_position' A BETTER WAY? I am searching for a better way than, -looping through the folder -indexing the objects -figuring which object is current -create links to the previous and next in the sequence This seems so raw and not very OO, compared to much of the power I have found in Zope and Python so far... MY IMAGINATION! I would simply like to do something like... <a href="<dtml-var orderedObject[self, -1]>"> Previous </a> <a href="<dtml-var orderedObject[self, 1]>"> Next </a> Or even better, make navigation objects. (like the arrow-buttons.) So standard nav could look like...or whatever you want. <<First <Previous Next> Last>> <dtml-var orderedObject[0, 0]> = first <dtml-var orderedObject[0, -1]> or [_.len, 0] = last Am I in Fantasy Land?? ;) Is there a "better way"? Any suggestions would be appreciated. -Trevor

Consider using Squid as an http accelerator, a Squid redirector (internally rewrites URLs prior to proxy; I use pyredir - it is written in Python, and is easy to modify), and a virtual host monster. Squid can load balance multiple back-end web servers (well, round-robin), which makes this an especially useful setup if you ever see youself using ZEO. This setup bypasses the need for using Apache to interface with Zope, and Apache running on a different port can be proxied to as well by squid, based upon how you have set up your redirector rules. Surely someone else can elaborate better or more correct, but let me just say that the '.' as you used it in your working example is not part of an object id, it describes a python operation, the attribute lookup, i.e. a.b tells python to look up the attribute b in the object a (where "looking up" is duty of a). But <dtml-var "_['FolderA.FolderB.' + _['sequence-item'] + '.PropertyA']"> tries to lookup an object whose name is "FolderA.FolderB.." (as you wrote). Don't know what exactly happens then, but it's clearly not what you want. cheers, oliver
