I've never tried it, but you might try using ZODB in standalone mode. Your external method could create a separate ZODB and use that. Any time your text file changes, create a new ZODB and ditch the old one. Just a though. Try this: Open file. Read file. Calculate MD5sum If md5 has changed, reparse the file. If not, show a cached tree. You'll have to come up with your own method for caching the tree. ExtFile on Zope 2.4.0

Hi, is there any info on 'ExtFile with Zope 2.4.0' On the product page it says: Note: ExtFile currently does not support Zope 2.4.x because of a bug / change-of-behaviour in this Zope version. See collector item #2442 for more info. I'm currently working on a fix for ExtFile, so stay tuned... Unfortunately, the link to item 2442 currently does not work. TIA Frank

I have no problem figuring out when to cache (I leech the flat file from a server). converting string to lower case

Hi, Can anybody tell me the DTML function that will convert (force) a string (or characters in a string) in upper case to lower case. I designed a form where i want user to enter a string value which i later used as a var name in my DTML method. Block IP address in Z-Server?

Hi, is it possible to ban an ip address from accessing Zope? (similar to Apache's "Deny from" directive). There are some idiots doing ridiculous amounts of spidering against my site and I want to block their IP's. If not does anyone know of an os-level way to block it? ZOBD performance using large documents

Hi, I have to build an application where rather big documents have to be managed. Now tried to upload a 5meg file to ZODB locally on my machine (PIII 800, 512MB, W2K) and I had to wait 2 min and 16 seconds. Ok, for users that only have a slow dialup connection this would be no problem, but I wonder, how ZODB will behave, if there are a lot of these documents to store. Are there better alternatives? I have to admit I like storing files in ZODB as I do not have to maintain which file belongs to which Zope document. TIA Frank

Problem modifying TinyTable data

Hi, I'm having a problem inserting data into a TinyTable. As a simple test, I created the table, clicked on it to edit it's properties, then typed an entry in the Data box. After that, I hit the change button. Nothing happened at that point. Naturally, I hit the change button again (I *could* have missed it ;-). Nothing, again. Any ideas on what could be causing this? My apologies if it's a stupid question... I'm new to Zope, but it seems that this should just work... I'm running Zope 2.4.1, with TinyTable Beta 2. (I also tried using TinyTablePlus-0.9.tgz, in case I originally got the wrong thing). It does the same thing in Konqueror and Mozilla. I'm stumped. :-( --Joel

I'm sorry to have had to resort to a group posting, but I am having trouble unsubscribing from the Zope mailing list. I managed to unsubscribe okay from zope-announce at [http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce] but am having trouble with the actual Zope list. I haven't had any luck at YahooGroups either. If any readers are involved in admin. the zope / zope@yahoo mailing lists, I would really appreciate if you could unsubscribe me. I may be listed as 'lee.reilly(a)ntlworld.com' or 'lreilly(a)cs.strath.ac.uk'.
