ZClass Subobjects in ZClass instances managed through ZMI

Hi, When ObjectManager is added as a Base Class when creating ZClass, the new ZClass has a "Subobjects" tab. If Image, Folder, or other "stock" object types are added to the "Subobjects" list, they are then offered in ZMI for each instance of the ZClass. But if other defined ZClasses are added to the "Subobjects" list of the ZClass, they are NOT offered in ZMI. Is that intentional? Can I change this behaviour? -- Milos Prudek

role Manager and explicit permissions

Hi Zopists, please can anybody explain (point to any documentation) why there is change in default permission setting for role 'Manager' when a new object is created? In older versions of Zope (2.2.x) when a new instance of any object was created (added) into ZODB role Manager had automatically set all permissions explicitly in addition of acquisition. Now (Zope 2.4.0 beta 3, Zope 2.4.1 - both from sources at FreeBSD) there is no explicit permission setting for role Manager when a new object instance is added into ZODB. Zope wins Web Tools Readers' Choice Award

Zope has won the Readers' Choice award in the Infrastructure category of the Webtechniques Web Tools Awards competition: http://www.webtechniques.com/wtawards/2001/ This in spite (or because of?) the somewhat ill-fitting categories; we shared the category with IBM's DB2 and PostgreSQL, while ColdFusion and Enhydra were listed in the Development category, for example. Still, a great thank you for everyone who voted for us! This problem may be specific to IE on Win2K. If you have opened that page in a new window last time, it'll do that again even if you don't ask to. I know I had the same behaviour on my home box running Win2K, but can't replicate on WinNT at work here. Hi Leonard, First of all, the Zope-Web mailinglist is for discussing the Zope.org website, not Zope itself. I send this reply to the zope(a)zope.org mailinglist instead. The above DTML code (include_articles) will display all objects of type 'YnobeArticle' and then certain 'YnobeArticlesFolder' objects. It may be that the look and feel for these object types (that I never before hear of) is coded into the Python class. I am not sure who created those object types, maybe you can get into contact with the author, or maybe someone on the Zope list will know about them. Hi, Can somebody help me to correct what is wrong in this code below? <dtml-var expr="_.getitem(_.string.lower(date_code,1))"> date_code is a string value enter by the user by filling a form which i then reference as a DTML Method. This worked perfectly before inserting the string function -<dtml-var expr="_.getitem(date_code,1)"> then the user will have to type the value in a lower case, this i considered to be rigid. But after inserting the string function this is error msg i received Error Type: TypeError Error Value: read-only character buffer, tuple Thanks. From ZODB to RDBMS

Let's suppose that at the beggining of a site development, it was decided to use ZODB as the only one storage. Let's also suppose that after a few months, by non-technical issues (sticking to ZODB couldn't be option), it was decided to switch the whole database to a high-end RDMS like Oracle. Hi, Which out of MySQL or PostGres would work better with Zope? Which has the more stable DA and what one should I use in each case? (kinda OT for Zope, but which has the better full-text search capability?) cheers, Chris
