mc-ftp crashes zope

hello, when i connect with the gnu-midnight-commander (mc) to my zope-ftp-port (8021), zope crashes if i submit a wrong login. this happens on linux (zope 2.4.3, mc 4.5.51) and freebsd (zope 2.4.1, mc 4.5.54), so i think it must be a problem of zope... ftping with a normal client works well... what's wrong with zope and midnight-commander? thanx4hlp maik.

I have several GB of free disk space, so that's not the issue. Just for fun, I tried this on another machine with 512Meg RAM both with Zope 2.4.3 and the latest 2.5 beta... same results... if this due to a bug in either cgi.py or somewhere else in the Zserver code? I guess my solution for handling these extra-jumbo files will be to run a sep. FTP server to allow uploading of the files. I seem to be having more trouble with this than most other users, so I'm wondering if there's still something silly I'm missing about the situation. If the above traceback rings any bells for anyone, I'd love to compare notes. Larry

Getting list length for single element in "dtml-in" loop

Wow -- this list has been so immensely helpful, it at once demonstrates how wonderful the open source community is.... and what an idiot *I* am. I have a dtml script which receives a form variable "field_topic", which is a list of the topic property or properties of the document or documents within a folder, and performs actions based upon the values in this list. The code is thus: <dtml-with REQUEST> <dtml-in field_topic> <dtml-let topik=sequence-item> <table border="1"> <dtml-in expr="PARENTS[0].objectValues(['STX_Document'])" sort="topic,title"> <dtml-if "topic == topik"> ........ If there are two or more elements in "fileld_topic", all is well. However, if "field_topic" contains only one element, I get the following error message: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. *Error Type: InError* *Error Value: Strings are not allowed as input to the in tag* ??? So my list is interpreted as a string if it is only one element in length. What is the simplest way to deal with the possibility of a one element (or *zero* element) list being returned?? I tried <dtml-if expr="len(field_topic) < 2"> DO <dtml-elif expr="len(field_topic) >= 2"> DO OTHER </dtml-if>. It didn't work. The <dtml-in> loop still gets called, even though the if loop should never reach it. Unless I've designed the loop incorrectly. I call upon those of you who actually understand the inner intracacies of Zope for your help. And I thank you in advance. peace* *

memory leak in a very simple product. Way?

Hi, I've writte a very simple product which creates 100 simple objects (testProd class instances) and each of these objects has a list-attribute which contains 200 other objects (item class instances). (Please find the code at the end of this mail.) By starting the addTestProd-function I create 20000 references to item objects, as the Zope-debug option as well as the leakFinder-product tell me. But I'll never get rid of these references and earlier or later I'll run out of memory. Could anybody explain me, way this simple product is leaking like a sieve? Nice to see yet another beta release of Zope 2.5! However, I don't get this release "installed" on Linux. Trivial problem with sending form variables to an update Zsql met hod..

Group, I've got a vexingly simple problem that'll probably push up another level to zope enlightenment. In particular, how to get the variables from a regular HTML form passed through to a zsql method containing an update statement> So, a (paraphrased) simple dtml-document page like this: <dtml-in zsqlQueryARecord> <form action="zsql_UpdateRecord"> <input name="keyField" type="hidden" value="<dtml-var keyField>"> <textarea name="contentsField"> <dtml-var contentsField> </textarea> <input type="submit"> </form> <dtml-in> My zsql_UpdateRecord method looks like: parms: keyField contentsField statement: update mytable set contentsField=<dtml-sqlvar contentsField type=string> where keyField=<dtml-sqlvar keyField type=string> --> When I replace the form action with a simple dtml page the displays REQUEST, the entries for these two variables ARE there in the request namespace with (potentially edited) values from the html form. --> When I execute/test the update method manually and enter sample data, it updates fine.. --> Everythings local to take care of any acquisition problems. --> HOWEVER, when zsql_UpdateRecord is invoked from the dtml-page, the zsql method pops up the default page asking me for the value of keyField and contentsField!!! [When I enter them, they flow through fine, not very user friendly though..] Searching through lists and docs indicates that updates within the zsql are no problem, however, I haven't seen an example showing the values coming off a form. How do I set up Virtual Hosting with IIS 5?????

Please forgive me if this question has been answered previously, but I have spent a lot of time with searches and all the information I have found always relates to Apache and NOT IIS5. All drafts of the ZAG say "to be added later" when they reach this point. Could anybody please help me by letting me know exactly what I need to do within zope, or provide me with a link where it is explained. I did what is described on http://twsite.bizland.com/twzop0015.htm , but I do not know what to do after that i.e. on the server (or is there a specific url I should use to call the pages so that they show the domain I want, especially without the port information?).

Imitating SiteRoot in an accessrule

Hi All, Is it possible to imitate the behaviour of a SiteRoot object in an access_rule? The basic idea is like this: Alot of virtual hosts point to our Zope server, and an access_rule in the / of the Zope server dispatches request to the appropriate subfolder. This works perfectly, except that base href in generated documents is wrong, it includes the entire path, while I would like it to skip the part up to the actual root of the site. This can be solved by installing a default SiteRoot in the subfolders, but I would rather not depend on all these SiteRoots (which people will modify, delete, etc, also the make managing these folders difficult) Is it possible to adjust the SiteRoot/SiteBASE/?? directly in my accessrule?
