Don't ask me about the reason. It is as it is. However - that's the good news - all three splitter already have support to configure this behaviour. They will allow to index numbers (if needed). The changes are currently in the CVS trunk but not the 2.5 branch. I think they will made it into the 2.5.1 release. If you need the changed splitters now, checkout the CVS trunk. However there is no integration yet in the ZMI and you need to tweak the Zope sources to enable the new features. - aj

Hi Derek, Take a look at http://www.zope.com/Demos/ it has some flash demos of how the CMF can be used and it's purposes. Also, http://www.zopezen.org also runs the CMF. It's a very cool product that has workflows that can be customized to suit your needs. Code is best when it's not a hack. The normal default directory browsing mixes files and subdirectories. While you can sort by type and id, this isn't a particularly enthralling solution. For example, if you just want directories gathered at the top of the list, but don't want files sorted any further than id. Also, if you give a spec of '*.jpg', this will exclude directories (which have a spec of '*/' or '*\'). Internally, LocalFS will place directories at the top, if they are included in the spec. This, however, leads to boring and stupid urls while browsing (always having to include '*/'). I could use tpValues(), but that doesn't deal with the spec, which LocalFS appends internally to the url variable for directories (that it adds this spec information without asking is a coding mistake, imho). .. hmm.. perhaps I should remove that mistake, rewrite methodBrowse to explicitly add spec as needed, and have done with it? Hello All, This is my first post. Please excuse me if this question / issue has been posted before -- I would appreciate a reference to the previous post if it has. I am calling an external python script from a dtml document. This external script performs some database queries and returns the result set as a list of lists (a list of rows, each row containing a list of fields). I would like to nest one <dtml-in> tag within another, so as to display the value of each field for each row in the result set. My existing code looks like this: dtml document: <table border=1> <dtml-in expr="retrieveData(REQUEST)"> <tr> <dtml-in sequence-item prefix="row"> <td><dtml-var row-item></td> </dtml-in> </tr> </dtml-in> </table> The external method constructs the list of lists like this: ## database connection and query code removed -- variable "cursor" is ## a database cursor pointing to a MySQL result set curdesc = cur.description records = cur.fetchall() outrecords = [] for nextrecord in records: newresult = {} i = 0 for nextcolumn in nextrecord: key = curdesc[i][0] ## column name for the current field newresult[key+"_type"] = curdesc[i][1] newresult[key] = value i = i + 1 outrecords.append(newresult) return outrecords Now, when the SQL query returns zero results, the dtml document correctly displays nothing. However, whenever at least one row *is* returned from the query (and thus my list of lists contains at least one row), I get the following zope error: Error Type: KeyError Error Value: 0 Now, my questions are: Has anyone attempted to do this before? Is it feasable? If a list of lists is not the correct data structure to use for nested <dtml-in> tags, what is the correct data structure and how can I construct one in an external python method? LocalFS

Has anyone a good modification of LocalFS to allow an optional specification that puts directories silently at top, and always at top (that is, doesn't mess around with the spec variable)? A better way to acquire or manipulate namespace

On the journey of enlightenment, I am hoping to understand acquisition better. I used a brute force method to solve my problem, but figure there is more subtle approach someone can show me. Situation: with request path... Root.com/myFolder/myDoc/myEdit_script ROOT | myFolder | myDoc -> could be any DTML_Doc in any sub-folder myMethods |method1 -> needs to call <dtml-var id> of myFolder |method2 myEdit_script -> calls method1 'myEdit_script' includes <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('id',id)"> to force 'id' into REQUEST. 'method1' calls myDoc with <dtml-with REQUEST><dtml-var "_.getitem(_['id'],1)" html_quote></dtml-with> This was to avoid inheriting the 'id' of myMethods(Folder). myDoc could be anywhere in many subfolders. How do I gracefully call myDoc, from method1, without forcing into REQUEST? I have unsuccessfully tried aq_parent and aq_explicit, to get past the myMethods namespace. TFTH, Trevor

As invoked, zsql_UpdateRecord probably will not be getting any namespace passed to it, and it will have none of its own. So it can't find the form data. Normally, I would use a dtml document as the target of the form, and that document would invoke <dtml-call zsql_UpdateRecord>. This way the parameters get sent to the method by the dtml document. apache + zope

Hi, This might be an apache problem but it's only occured since I started redirecting into zope. I currently have several virtual name based domains setup in apache being redirected into zope. The actual name of my server is atrium.southcom.com.au but as soon as I type this into my browser I get the first virtual domain so I added, <VirtualHost 203.31.212.17> ServerName atrium.southcom.com.au DocumentRoot /var/www TransferLog /var/log/apache/atrium.southcom.access.log </VirtualHost> still atrium.southcom.com.au goes to the virtual domain, but now I get to /var/www by the ip address or using atrium.southcom.com.au/index.html any clues?
