A small note on security assertions

If you are like me and don't like to start coding from scratch, but rather like to start modifying an existing and proven source skeleton, like the Boring product for example, one small piece of advice: watch out for conflicting declarations. It took me over one month (give or take) to find out why all my security assertions (such as 'security.declareObjectPublic()' and such) were totally ineffective: because I left '__ac_permissions__' skeleton code hanging. Once that was commented out, all worked finally as advertized. Still, a month of wasted search, running like a headless chicken through sources and docs. Painful and frustrating. I hope this little note might save someone similar frustration. Because Zope is really, really great. Cheers, Vio

Totally newbieish question about results paging.

I admit to not being more then a cpl of weeks old to Zope, and i have read quite a bit of the material online.. But, can someone give me a pointer to where to find some kind of skelleton to page the results of a query, along with next/prev/et. al. functionality? Tia Jan

DTML into Python for Formulator

Okay... I'll admit it: I'm one of those who only knows about Python because of Zope. I am working with Formulator, and need a method to return a list of properties. First, apologies for the cross posting. I need to make sure this gets to as many people as possible, for obvious reasons... Everyone's got grumbles about how zope.org is organised. Now is the time to quit grumbling and do something about it. If you are a newbie or a guru, please take the time to respond to this email! I'm currently in the process of defining requirements for improving the zope.org website. The first part of this process is listening to the key constituencies for the site. Please note, I'm *not* planning on making a new products rating system, or a replacement for the fishbowl: I'm interested in the graphical design and informational content of the site. The questions are intended to help me understand who is using zope.org, how they use it, and what they would like it to be. access cvsweb thru Zope

Hi, I'm trying to find a way to use perl cvsweb CGI script via Zope. The main reason for this - use powerful auth means that Zope has. Our CVS repository is partitioned on project basis using standard UNIX mechanism (owner/group/perm). So I can't simply run cvsweb from anonymous user --- it won't has required permissions. I (probably) need to auth user first (thru Zope) and then run cvsweb.cgi from that user. Does anyone do something similar? Is it possible at all? AFAIU I should grok External Method first. -- Rgrds, Max Ischenko

Hello! I am at loss - what the heck causes this error? Any help is appreciated - this is a showstopeer bug.
