Hi, I work with Thai charecter set tis-620 on 2.5.0 it run smooth but on 2.6.0 when I put Thai set in Properties Tab to discript a folder in Thai a messages shown : Error Type: UnicodeError Error Value: Latin-1 encoding error: ordinal not in range(256) Can I set charector code somewhere inside Zope-2.6.0? (I am a user who never known any program script but can followed by instuction sheet! :)) Thanks, Viriya

Hello, Can somebody explain how I can use Zope 2.6 from CVS (using Python 2.1.3)? (doc/INSTALL.txt mentions Pytnon 2.2 will be required for 2.7) which shouldn't be required for 2.6? Am I using the wrong CVS-tree? What is the difference between the Zope-2_6-branch and the Zope-2_6-i18n-branch? Can somebody give me more info? Regards, PieterB

Acquisition: crazy idea

Does everybody remember their early days of using ZOpe when you probably tried top/ images/ bar.gif foo/ index_html images/ ... and then in top/foo/index_html you put: <dtml-var "images['bar.gif']> ... and were thus introduced to the joy and pain of grokking acquisition? Well, I was discussing this with a coworker today (he's an experienced jsp developer, but new to zope) and he said well, why *doesn't* that work, and I didn't have a good answer. What if there were an (optional?) extension to the acquisition rules such that, if the current acquisition process finishes and no object is found, we try to to replace the aq_parent with the next object of the same id found further up the acquisition chain? And then do this recursively back up the acquisition chain until finally we run out of places to look? So instead of saying "I found images/ but it doesn't contain bar.gif', zope would say "hmm, I didn't find what I wanted, there's no bar.gif in here, let me go looking for another images/ and try again." def recursively_rewrap_and_look_again(self, attrname): try: self.aq_chain[1] ... # get the object we would have found # if the current self.aq_chain[1] did not exist except IndexError: raise NotFound # I have no aq_parents, there's nowhere else to look try: return getattr(self, attrname) except AttributeError: new_me = self.aq_chain[1].recursively_rewrap_and_look_again(self.id) return getattr(new_me, attrname) ... uh... or something like that. :) I feel like this must have nasty implications, but I can't see what, except that I have no clue how "get the object we would have found" would work. -- Paul Winkler http://www.slinkp.com "Welcome to Muppet Labs, where the future is made - today!"

problem creating "File Library with Page Templates"

I'm working my way through the beginning page templates chapter of the Zope Book. In the section entitled "Creating a File Library with Page Templates" it says to: * create a folder named FileLib * create a page template in FileLib named index_html * save their mocked up HTML source to .../FileLib/index_html/source.html The last step fails. I'm using XEmacs 21.5b9. Dired shows there is an index_html object inside my FileLib folder: /skip@localhost#8021:/FileLib: d--------- 1 Zope Zope 0 Oct 25 23:27 .. -rw-rw---- 1 skip Zope 384 Oct 25 23:27 index_html I can open the index_html object in my editor session. However, I can't save my source.html buffer to /skip@localhost#8021:/FileLib/index_html/source.html as it instructs (rightly so, I think). ProxyPass, proxy restriction

How can I let anyone proxy thru apache to zope, and yet restrict all other proxying activity? Background. We've set up zope to get proxied through apache (1.3.x) via ProxyPass as described in http://www.zope.org/Members/anser/apache_zserver. Our httpd.conf contains: <IfModule mod_proxy.c> ProxyVia On ProxyRequests On ProxyPass /zope/ http://localhost:8080/ ProxyPassReverse /zope/ http://localhost:8080/ <Directory proxy:*> Order deny,allow Deny from all Allow from .foo.com, .someisp.com # Allow from all </Directory> </IfModule> So we have https://foo.com/zope/ pointing to the zope server on foo.com: https --> apache (port 443) --> zope (port 8080) Initially, we had restricted access to zope only from our domain and some selected external ISPs (e.g. employees working from home). Unfortunately, I've been asked to change this to "Allow from all"; i.e. allow anyone to reach zope from outside via the apache proxy, because people need access to it while on the road, etc. This has the unforunate side effect of allowing _any_ proxying from outside; i.e. apache is now essentially an open relay. Proxying to zope is OK since zope is password protected, but we want to disallow any other proxying activity. I haven't been able to find good documentation on the <Directory proxy:*> directive. LocalFS Security Question

Hi, I have a LocalFS whose view settings are set to allow only manager to see them. Now I have a page that has direct links to the contents of the LocalFS (I contains images videos and soudn files only). Even though I set up that page to have a proxy as manager, I get a forbidden error when I click on any of those links. What I actually want is that 1. The LocalFS File listing is not visible to the users. 2. Nobody should be able to jus type in a URL and have direct access to my resource without going through a accept license page. How do I do what I want?? Hi all, My zope just crashed and is giving me this error. I tried adding emil email and then restarted zope. and got this fatal traceback. Problem with Tabs

Hello! I have a class, which should create dynamically one tab for every folder, which was created in this class. When I click on one tab there should the index of the folder be displayed and also the other tabs. To get this work I wrote a method which changes the mange_options tuple for every object in my class and the class itself, so that the path of every tab is right. This method is called everytime the index of my class is called. Now the display of a tab should depend on a variable 'visible', which every folder gets, when he's created. This variable can be changed on the index of my class. After that the index of my class is reloaded and the deactivated tab should not appear. All this worked fine on Zope 2.5.0, but on every version higher there is a strange bug: When I change the variable and click the button, which should reload the index, the whole row of tabs disappears. When I reload the page manually by refreshing with my browser the row of tabs appears again how I wish it. In the Changelog of Zope I found the fllowing change in Version 2.5.1: - Propertysheets: Ids like 'values','keys' and 'values' are now forbidden as they break WebDAV functionality. Existing Propertysheets are not affected but I don't know, if there is a connection between this and my problem? Another less important problem is, how I can select one special tab to be emphasized. If anybody could tell me how to solve my problem, I would be very grateful. Sebastian Queißer

[ANN] TextIndexNG 1.06 released

I have just released version 1.06 of TextIndexNG. This version is a bugfix release without any new features. V1.06 fixes some unicode-related problems using the ZMI and fixes a problem with the new TXNGSplitter.
