Override a redirection in response

Hello, I'm trying to "veneer" the ZMI's rename form. Everything works util an error is rised (i.e. rename a file to an existing file name); the manage_renameObject() method in CopySupport.py then redirects to manage_main: try: ob._notifyOfCopyTo(self, op=1) except: raise CopyError, MessageDialog( title='Invalid Id', message=sys.exc_info()[1], action ='manage_main') <- why isn't this conditioned? (i.e.) to the existence of a certain variable, as in ... if REQUEST is not None: return self.manage_main(self, REQUEST, update_menu=1) return None Trying to catch the exception is in vain, the redirect remains. So, is there anyway to catch this exception or at least to remove the redirect from the RESPONSE? This is my code so far: <dtml-try> <dtml-with "REQUEST.resolve_url(path_to_container)"> <dtml-call "manage_renameObject(ids_item, new_ids_item)"> <- kaput </dtml-with> <dtml-except CopyError> <- doesn't work, redirect remains. <dtml-call "errIds.append(ids_item)"> </dtml-try> ... <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(URL1)"> <- ha, ha, ha ... update_data()

I'm writing a python Script that handles user uploaded files (among other things). I'd like users to be able to overwrite files and looking at the API update_data() appears to be what I want. I did notice the caveat that it was callable by Python only, but no good explaination as to whether this meant just External Methods or Scripts or something else. And, sure enough when I try and use the Script I'm shown a login box and asked for authentication (even when the admin already). When I cannot authenticate I'm told that I don't have the proper permissions. So, there are two questions here, 1. just what is allowed to call update_data() 2. is there something else that I can call instead? Cheers, -- Bryan C. ZSQL Methods and multiple SQL statements

Hi is it the intention that ZSQLMethods could contain more than one SQL statement? eg (ridiculous example I know) insert into foo values('bar'); delete from foo obviously in the case of query, you only get the last result set. The reason I ask, is that this currently doesnt work with ZMySQLDA 2.08 / MySQLdb 0.9.1 This seems to be because in the mysql client the call to mysql_real_query c function is only expected to take one SQL statement. Of course the code above works correctly in the mysql interactive prompt. If the ZSQLMethod is meant to take multiple statements then I'd better look at fixing it. What do the other DA products do? calling a DTML method with arg

I have several pages where I want to list some information about patients in my database, and want to have a single DTML method called listPatient which takes pid (patient id) as an arg and lists the information for that patient. The basic idea is that I have many DTML Documents that need to list patients in a variety of contexts, and I want to have a single method that controls how patients are listed, so as I upgrade my database I won't have to change the patient listing format in many places Something like <dtml-in expr="get_pids()" mapping> <dtml-call expr="listPatient( 'pid=%s' % <dtml-var pid>)" > </dtml-in> But I am having trouble figuring out how to set up a DTML method to get an argument like this. Is this possible? Can you recursively nest DTML methods/documents? Thanks John Hunter

ZCatalog results.

Im trying to make 2 searchs on one ZCatalog and merge both into a single result, but I had no success on removing the duplicated results. Has anyone did this (almost sure)? _mysql_exceptions.NotSupportedError

I get a "_mysql_exceptions.NotSupportedError: (1196 "Warning: Some non-transactional changed tables couldn't be rolled back.")" error at seemingly random intervals. It happens when inserting a record into a table through a ZSQL method, but not every time. The site user can go back to the form from the error page (with the browser's back button) and resubmit the form and it will work fine the second time. If I check the database after receiving the error and before retrying, the record is there. Retrying produces a duplicate record. Since it succeeded, nothing should need to be rolled back, which makes the error message hard to understand. In any case, my tables are in MyISAM format and don't support rollbacks. My current theory is that this happens when one transaction follows too quickly after another in the same table. It never happens when I test the ZSQL method and it seems to happen a lot less often if I call the offending ZSQL method from a script that has a time-wasting for loop between it and the prior ZSQL method. Has anyone else experienced this? Found a solution? And what's the best way, within a Python script, to pause a half-second or so without slowing other processes? Thanks. Is there a way to submit a bunch of files to DocumentLibrary via FTP? Yes, it works, but the files are not indexed by the DocumentLibraryIndex. And: Is there a way to automatically let the folders and subfolders be DocumentLibrary Topics?
