I'm trying to do a simple thing: import urllib f = urllib.urlopen('http://www.somesite.com') lines = f.readlines() I followed the instructions in PythonScripts/README.txt on how to allow other modules to be imported by python scripts, and indeed the urllib.urlopen works. However, the f.readlines() fails, claiming I don't have permission. The python documentation says that urllopen() returns a 'file-like' object, without actually telling me the type. TALES problem

Hi, I just started playing with Zope, and noticed that TALES seemed to be the preferred way to do HTML presentation. The way I had my site set up before that using DTML methods. I had a dtml method for my header, a dtml method for my footer, and then the index_html called those two methods, and put some data between them. My problem is that I tried to switch all of those pieces over to TALES, and while it worked for the header, as soon as I changed the footer, it gave me an error. It looks like TALES checks to make sure that every closing tag has an opening one, but not the other way around. Am I using TALES incorrectly? Should I instead be using DTML Methods or Documents for this purpose? urlopen works outside Zope, not inside

I have an External Method containing a reference to urlopen. The procedure that the Method represents works well when invoked from outside of Zope. However, within Zope I get the 10061 socket error, "Connection refused." Help or advice, please. Having to keep typing "./start &"

Hi there, I just installed zope yesterday (running on linux) and found that I could use the area mysite.com:8080/manage for a little while, and then the process would be killed. i.e I'd have to keep typing "./start &" every few minutes to be able to continue doing the tutorial. I found some info that says that I should change the port from 8080 (I'm running cpanel under that port anyways), so I changed it to 9080 as suggested. However, the problem still exists. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? List editing

I am trying to make a web page that edits a list: Name Age ---- --- Sean 32 <delete> Richard 40 <delete> Name: ___ Age: ___ <Add> The question is, how do I pass the list at the top around between invocations of the page, especially in the case where there is no list at all! I can see that I could build a list of records in the form and pass that to the action script (to send back to me again), but I am at a loss as to how to generate an argument consisting of an empty list. And I am also concerned that this is not the best way to do this. (I am using Page Templates BTW). Accessing arbitrary Python objects from ZPT

how to make attributes of arbitrary complex python objects (assume you don't have access to the python source code of these objects) accessible from zope, without reverting to tricks like marshalling the objects into dictionaries? will a deeper look into the ZSQL source code help me mastering this problem? i have some functions from a python application which give back objects as their return value. i want to access attributes from these objects from ZPT. I'm calling the functions via external methods which return the objects. it is also possible to display the objects themselves (their __str__ or __repr__ function is called). when i want to access a member variable of such an object, zope wants me to authenticate again. i know, this has something to do with security an i also read the appropriate chapter in the zope developer guide, but i don't want to implement a container for each class which transforms objects into dictionaries and perhaps back again. Mozilla + TAL problems
