Calling a DTML Method with arguments

I needed to send a bunch of emails via Zope today. I figured I would just use the python script I found on ZopeLabs... http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/991178206 ...but that appears to have a problem with email addresses containing hyphens. No good. So I pulled out one of my old dtml methods for sending mail and tried to stick a call to it inside a dtml-in loop. And I got stuck. How do I call the DTML Method? I tried calling it as: <dtml-call "method(arg1='test')">. Didn't like that. I'm calling from a DTML Document, which has its own namespace, so I figured the method would use that, so I tried <dtml-call "method">. This at least began executing the method, though it did give a KeyError on the data from the sequence. I gave up and stuffed the sendmail code inside the loop and called it good. hi there I'm having some trouble with a site, which is too slow. I tried the httpcachemanager and the ramcachmanager. unfortunately I'm not able to cache my own zclasses (they are not listed). I use quite a lot of aquisition and a lot of python scripts with "again" a lot of loops. I'm using Zope 2.4.3 on a MacOSX machine. can you give me some performance tips. thank you for any help. kind regards daniel

version trouble

Hi, I'm working with Zope 2.4.3 on a linux SuSE 7.0 system. I was just editing my homepage using a version ( called 'tmp' ) and 2 different browser windows ( mozilla 0.9.7 ). Then I decided that the changes I had done are ok, saved them and quited the version ( in the first browser window ). After that I found a small mistake in one of my sites and corrected it ( in the second browser window ). Somehow the version was still active and the changes were made inside it. But, it wasn't the same verion. The version the changes were made in is called 'No longer active'. I can start and quit working with that version by starting and quitting the original version tmp. But if I want to save / discard the canges there is just the message 'No unsaved work has been done in this version' The link of the version 'No longer active' points to the root directory of Zope ( I was working in the folder 'hausmann-family' ), but there is no version at all. How can I get rid of this version? Some files are locked and I can't delete them or do anything else with them. Thanks, Steffen -- Es gibt keine perfekten Menschen, nur perfekte Absichten.

Hello again, Never mind ... I just saw the sync tab on one of my servers ... The other server is misbehaving and not displaying the tab. ZSyncer

Hello all, This is a pretty basic question, but where is the documentation for using Zsyncer? I've looked on the author's page, but that just lists install instructions and changelogs. I've looked at SourceForge, but there are no documents submited. There's no extra tab or other functions I can tell in the Zope manage interface, and from a cursory review of the source code I don't see an extra URL path (say, 'zsync" published). Pointers to manuals to RTFM would be appreciated ... Arrggh. I'm stuck on somthing really simple here. I have the following statements in a method: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('periodsplit', _.str(period).split('-'))"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('dateYear', _.int(periodsplit[0]))"> If I set the var 'period' and view it directly it works just fine (period is in the format 2002-5), but if I call it from another object (methodname(_.None, _, period='2002-11')) it errors with: global name 'periodsplit' is not defined and the error points to the second call there. How can it not be defined? I just set it?!!? Is REQUEST.set not pushing those onto the namespace when called from another object? I've never had this problem before. TIA Rick

Upgrading 2.4.4 to 2.5.1: data migration problem with invisible Python Scripts

To copy data from Zope 2.4.4 to Zope 2.5.1, I decided against moving Data.fs, and instead relied on the following procedure which somehow brought much pain as it created "invisible" Python Scripts: - Create a folder in 2.4.4. called 'export'. - Copy almost all content from root to 'export' (except acl_users, Control_Panel, QuickStart) - Export the 'export' folder to a file 'export.zexp' - Export my ZClasses to a .zexp file - Shutdown Zope 2.4.4 - Install and run Zope 2.5.1 - Import the 'export.zexp' - Move files from the 'export' folder to root. - Import the ZClasses. - Copy external methods from Zope 2.4.4 Extensions folder to Zope 2.5.1 Extensions folder This worked OK on my local setup (heavily patched RedHat 7.1, Python 2.1.3 compiled from sources), and it APPEARED to work well on the production server (some sort of Slackware, Python 2.1.3 compiled from sources). All ZODB content appeared to be OK, but calling any of many Python Scripts from a DTML method ended in an error "Global name <script_name> not found". Of course <script_name> was right there, and it was possible to access it through direct URL (http://myserver/<script_name>), but when it was called from a DTML method it always failed with "Global name <script_name> not found". I tried the following: - rename <script_name> to a different name, and use that change in the calling DTM method. Problem persists. - delete <script_name>, and push it from local server using ZSyncer. Problem persists. - delete <script_name>, create an empty Python Script with ZMI, and copy&paste source from local Zope ZMI. Problem disappears! The above was true for at least five Python Scripts that have exhibited this problem. -- Milos Prudek

was looking for ecommerce solution in zope -- hoping to have a secure way to do credit card authorizations. Looked around zope.org and the only thing there looks old, stale, not maintained any longer. anyone know of a good implementation to do credit card auth through authorize.net with zope? -- David Bear College of Public Programs/ASU 480-965-8257 ...the way is like water, going where nobody wants it to go

What you really want is: <dtml-in expr="get_record(PermitNumber=PermitNumber)"> Or if this is a ZSQL then it's even simpler: Just call it like: <dtml-in get_record> Subject: [Zope] passing value to sql method question Hi, Learning dtml and zope... I am trying to call an sql method called get_record and pass a parameter to it. This works if I hardcode the value into the dtml method like this: <dtml-in expr="get_record(PermitNumber=12345)"> However, The above line is in a dtml method called edit_dtml So I want to call edit_dtml from an html document like this: <a href="edit_dtml?PermitNumber=<dtml-var PermitNumber>"> <dtml-var Company null=""></a> The value of PermitNumber gets passed okay and can be displayed in the called page (edit_dtml) with: <dtml-var PermitNumber> But I need to plug it into the dtml-in expresssion something like this: <dtml-in expr="get_record(PermitNumber=<dtml-var PermitNumber>)"> But this generates a syntax error. There must be a correct way to do this. Any ideas on how else I might do it? I assume that the part after expr=" must be python code and this is why this does not work ??
