I've just installed zope edit today, version of 2002/06/25 It produces me this error on the helper side, after asking me for the editor path: FATAL ERROR: global name 'path' is not defined. Persistence issue or a simple bug?

Hello, I've got a problem with a persistence of created product attributes. My product is a simple CMF portal type containing lists of some objects. The problem is that my lists are flushed after refresh of the product. The question is if all stored elements should be persistent or just main product instance? If not - which elements are affected during the product refresh? Pawel Lewicki

Stupid newbie "Tree Tag" Question

Hi All, I'm trying to create navigation widgets in DTML documents, and am having *MAJOR* problems getting the tree tag to work. I've gone back to the simplest case to try to figure out what's going on, which is the construct: - <dtml-tree> <dtml-var getId> </dtml-tree> However, this returns *NO* results - if I fire it and look at the source of the rendered page, where I expect a tree I see: - <TABLE CELLSPACING="0"> </TABLE> I can see that the <dtml-var getId> works *outside* the tree, but isn't firing *inside* it. Initially, I thought that this might be a permissions issue, but this would seem to suggest not. All input gratefully accepted... TIA, Cheers, PhilK

You are right. I think it's difficult, too. My problem is run ASP and Zope together and the layout fit each other. I would like to be able to put a ASP Page in a "metal:fill-slot" template tag. I think I will have to develop a Zope Product, or something like that, to parser a html code that was generated from ASP server. This Product doesn't only resolve the problem of legacy ASP code. ZClasses strange thing/bug?

Hi, Some more observations on ZClasses. If I export a ZClass that depends on another ZClass, then Zope will put a file on disk with a copy of all methods of the base class and the depending class. You can easily see this by exporting to xml and then searching the xml for code fragments. I had a look at the source code of exportFile and it seems that it doesn't do anything special, except dumping _p_jar to a file. That strongely suggest that inside of the ZODB there is a copy of the methods of a base class for all depending classes. Is this a bug? If not, why is it implemented like this? If it is not a bug, how do I tell Zope to refresh its copy? Douwe

Hi, I have a custom product that requires a cookie crumbler instance in its parent folder to operate. What do I have to do to be able to add cookie crumbler programmatically to a folder when I do an Add->MyProduct in that given folder?? Authentication

How does one authenticate a user without going through an BASIC Authentication challenge screen? What I would like to do is this: I have another server that has already authenticated the individual making the request. If the request comes to Zope from that machine, I have a high degree of confidence that the indvidual in question is who they say they are.... I can pass the proper information about the user along - if I knew what/how to pass..... Is there some easy way to accomplish this? What I need to know is how does Zope recognize the information being sent it, and then assign the proper roles for said individual without forcing another login? I've looked at cookies, authentication headers, certs, etc - but I don't seem to understand what Zope does with this information when it receives it. Can anyone tell me what script Zope runs to set up the roles or how I might set them myself? TIA WPH

Hi Sean You are correct that you are inside the speech marks (""), you have to talk python rather than DTML. Zope Sessions ques

Can anybody tell me how to do this CST stuff in Zope Sessions : (sessiondatamgr is a CST data manager) data = sessiondatamgr.getSessionData() data.invalidate() sessiondatamgr.flushTokenCookie() I tried the following: data = session_data_manager.getSessionData() data.invalidate() bid = session_data_manager.getBrowserIdManager() bid.flushBrowserIdCookie() but it doesnt do the thing ie kill a session. also whats the Zope Session equivalent of isTokenNew() in CST?? finally any other docs regarding Zope Sessions other than the Zope Book and shopping cart example because they are extremely simple cases, and didnt help me at all in converting my stuff from CST to Zope Sessions.
