Problems with long strings in RDBMS

I´m having problems trying to add strings greater than about 150 chars. These strings make the database cursor to crash. I have mysql with ODBC with ZODBCDA under W98. I´m sure it is a ZODBCDA problem, because of I tried to connect with Access2000 and the row with the long string is inserted and I can read it. I tried to hack the code, but I think the problem is in a binary file of the ZODBCDA distribution. Someone experiment something like this?. is it better if i post the traceback? I have searched on Zope.org but it´s nothing about this. ------ Antonio Carrasco

Log Out Problems With Cookie Authentication (& LDAPUserFolder)

Hi all, I'm using Zope 2.5.1 under Win2k, and authenticating users via the LDAPUserFolder (1.5beta1) with cookie based authentication. I've got a logout link that looks like this: <a href="/mysite/acl_users/logout">Log Out</a> Where the acl_users object is my LDAPUserFolder, and the logout object is a custom form I've placed in it that looks like this: <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.expireCookie('__ac',path='/')"> <dtml-call expr="SESSION.invalidate()"> <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.redirect('/mysite/index_html')"> The redirect works, but what I expect to happen is that the user should be presented with the login form, instead they are presented with index_html and are most definitely not logged out (user Anonymous does not have 'view' permissions while Authenticated does). In fact, I can't seem to kill the session without closing down the browser entirely. Could anyone give me any pointers to using cookie based authentication, or let me know what I'm doing wrong in this case? Thanks! David A. Dreamweaver MX rewrites ZPT XML?

Has anyone else experienced this? Dreamweaver MX seems to completely replace ZPT XML tags. Here's the scenario. Connect to Zope via WebDAV and open a document for editing (content.htm). Dreamweaver MX parses: Page Title and replaces the span with the expanded variable information. Publish the document from MX back to Zope, and the XML is gone, replaced by the hard-coded varibale information, i.e.: <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4"> <tr> <td align="left" valign="top" bgcolor="#6699CC"> Court Information: District 1 </td> </tr> </table> Say it isn't so. I hope i'm misunderstanding something here! I'm also very much hoping that there is a setting in DW MX preferences that prevents this, but have not found it. passive ftp?

howdy. i'm running zope on linux server that also runs iptables. i'm having trouble getting iptables to accept passive ftp connections to the zope ftp server. i'm assuming that this is because the iptables ftp module doesn't know that port 8021 is ftp as well. i suppose i could set the zope ftp port to 21. has anyone found any other ways around this problem? thanks!

Hosed up site root, can't access site!!!

Hi, I just royally hosed up my configuration. I was changing the properties of the SiteRoot object, and modified the path to /testsite but did not change the base URL. After comitting this change, none of the site's pages come up -- all I get is "Resource not found." I've tried modifying the URL by which I'm accessing the site in various ways (e.g., /testsite/manage, etc.) but nothing comes up. SInce I can't get into the management screens to fix this, I don't know what to do. Any ideas? Thanks! ZCatalog and boolean values

Hi, I have an index on a boolean property named 'singlelang' in a ZCatalog. Searching for all objects having 'singlelang="on"' ('true' is called 'on' in Zope; I don't know why, but that's another story) is easy. But I also would like to be able to find all objects, where the property 'singlelang' is 'false' (or 'off'). But this doesn't seem to be possible. Is there any solution to this problem? Roland

Hi David and David - I tried your answer first and it worked. I just forgot the second line when I did it and didn't see that it bobed out on me in another line :-( Jules - I'll try the extra suggestions tomorrow and if it works I'll post the answer. Win IE to access zope

hi, this is a newbie question. System: Window NT4.0, IE5.0 Zope binary was downloaded just last week. Instatllation was fine. start.bat can start up the zope. The message shows: ZServer HTTP, FTP, PCGI are running. However, in IE5.0, the URL http://localhost:8080 results in "the web page you requested is not available offline". I must have missed some simple thing. Any idea ? thanks, HP

dtml-in/sort equivalent in Product

Hi, I want to get a list of 10 most updated objects contained in my Product. I can use self.objectValues('Something'), but I don't know how to sort it by "id/cmp/desc" from within Python. So I need Python equivalent of this DTML code: <dtml-in prefix="loop" expr="objectValues('Something')" sort="id/cmp/desc" size="10"> Is there something in Zope to do this, or do I have to write sorting method and sort it myself ? regards, Michal

Traversing subdirs in Python

Hi all I have following script: import string id=string.split(file.filename, '\\')[-1] context.manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addFile(id, title="", file=file) doc=getattr(context, id) doc.manage_addProperty('comment', comment, 'string') And the following Tree: Hello | +--- Hello1 | +--- Hello2 The script works but it puts the file into the directory the script is in (Hello1). How do I change the context to Hello2? The file has to be inserted there. I looked through the libs and tried some of the solutions but I can't find a thing. :-( Any hints wellcome! Thanx Oliver
