Just a word of caution on MS Passport. Be sure to read the Terms of Use. While they have improved somewhat, they are still regressive to the point that you may want to consult with your lawyer before signing up. You might want to view jack Russo's talk (4/11/00) in the Past Colloquia section at http://ee380.stanford.edu. In additon, a number of significant security issues have been identified with the Passport system (http://avirubin.com/passport.html)

I didn't quite understand all the postings Running Apache:80 Tomcat:8080 Zope:9090 I'd like to keep them separate and get stats on only the Zope Server hits etc... Hi Bill. What you are comparing is apples and oranges. Zope is is a web services platform-- and you can use products like Dreamweaver and Flash to add and edit Zope content-- and Zope serves it up to the web. They all work fairly well together, and you (may) need both-- the server platform and the content creation tools, i.e. Dreamweaver (or the web editor of your choice) and perhaps Flash (or Director etc...). Zope does have it's own content creation interface, which is improving, but is pretty minimalistic, and not something for the average interested but technology challenged teacher. Motivated teachers and kids seem to do quite well with Flash and Dreamweaver. Great! Thanks to all who responded...and to those that did not but were thinking of the answer. I must have picked up brain waves, too. I am still stuck in the old-fashioned, outdated, etc. world of DTML, so I took parts of the responses and did this (I will try the Python scripts later): <form action="<dtml-var URL>" method="get"> <select name="yr:list" onChange="submit();" multiple size="5"> <option>Year</option> <dtml-in zGetYEAR> <option value="<dtml-var CYEAR>"><dtml-var CYEAR></option> </dtml-in> </select> <dtml-if bt> <dtml-in bt> <input type="hidden" value="<dtml-var sequence-item>" name="bt"> </dtml-in> </dtml-if> ... ... ... </form> There are 6 other little forms like this one each displaying a different vehicle property. I made sure to use the name:list= convention for setting up the main variable on each of the forms. It works fine now no matter what comes in from the dropdown selections. One, none or many...it all works. We've found that they make the code more readable and are quite handy. Pb: Zope-Python module using C++ shared libraries

Hi, I created python module that use C++ shared libraries. I use an External Method in Zope to access my module. But Zope can not access to the shared C++ libraries eventhough they are in the same directory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Error Type: ImportError Error Value: ./lib1.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ----------------------------------------------------------------------- All the files needed are placed in the Extensions directory. Zope can access to the module, but not to the C++ shared libraries the module uses. If I don't use Zope but just Python, there's no problem. can somebody help? NB: the module is compiled like: g++ ............ g++ -shared ./lib1.so -o mymodule.so

WebDAV and ZPT

Hi, no responses yet, so here's a synopsis of the WebDAV problem i am experiencing: Synopsis: ZPT XML tags are rewritten as HTML under WebDAV and Dreamweaver MX. When put back to zope via WebDAV, the XML is gone, leaving HTML in its place. Platform is W2K. Zope is 2.5.1. Zope is started using the WebDAV source port (-W 10000) via an NT service. The stupid_log_file confirms this, as an HTTP server started on port 10000. What could be going on here? Another question: is using Zope WebDAV on a production server a good or bad idea? Why? Error by using libraries with an external method

Hello, I have a problem using libraries with Zope. I have a C++ program. I made some libraries to be able to call it with Python. When I use just Python it works. But when I call my Python script with a Zope External method i doesn't work. The error message I get is : Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: ImportError Error Value: ./test.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory If someone can help me? .NET/passport support?

Hey all, Has anyone done anything with .NET/passport for Zope (or straight python)? I note there's a passport product, by andym, but it's for win32 - I'm hoping there's a way to talk to passport from linux for authentication (preferably in a form I can easily hack up to do certain other things, too ;) KJL
