Not a problem - but you really ought to stop Zope if you want to RESTORE it! Only time it is a problem backing up is if the DB is being updated by something - ZSync, for example. How do I install PIL in Zope on a Win32 platform?

I'd like to experiment with EasyImage which needs PIL installed - I've tried following http://vsbabu.org/webdev/zopedev/pil4win.html but it did work. There doesn't seem to be much about how to actually install PIL in zope in the way of how-to's. Any help would be appreciated!

Just take a live snapshot of your ../var/Data.fs (as the crucial part). Document Assembly with Zope

I created a zope site with a slew of DTML Document containing clauses for documents. The idea is to list the various DTML Documents in an HTML form from which the user selects particular clauses for inclusion in a dynamically generated document. The DTML Documents are stored in various folders in a tree. This structure is easily viewed with a <dtml-tree> tag. However, I am trying to generate an HTML form with the same structure, but with radio buttons in front of each clause so that one (or none) of the selections can be made by the user. Making the HTML form is a bit tricky, but that isn't the really hard part. First, as users would be allowed to add folders and DTML documents at will (this is a necessity for the project), then a python script can't be used to generate the appropriate document (or can it, because you wouldn't know the complete parameter string). Has anyone tried to do something like this? I considered creating a separate document with a list of the clauses contained in a list parameter. Then the user could just select from the list. This isn't the best solution, because it would presuppose that the user knew what the clause was to begin with (a bad assumption). In fact, the nice thing about the form is that you could have a URL to the particular clause, which the users found very helpful. An alternative is to use a ZCatalog to generate the HTML form. That still leaves the problem of generating the completed document because the python script wouldn't have a non-volitile parameter list. I know that CMF is good for creating a single document. Unfortunately, I haven't found that it is useful for generating a document on the fly from selecting particular clauses from a multitude of clauses. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Ron

LocalFS or something equal

Hi, I know that the LocalFS maintainer was looking for someone to maintain his product. Has somebody taking this over? Or does someone knows about a same type of product? I can't use ExtFile or External File because of the vast amount of images. Tom.

TFs are bad bad bad... too much magic to the namespace stack. They break Core Session Tracking in Zope < 2.5, and likely don't work with sessions in Zope 2.5. The reason for this is that with the session id manager (which in CST has to have the same name every time), you cannot have more than one (because TF screws up the namespace stack globally, and makes the session id managers appear to already exist for a folder that they don't, or something like that, I can't remember exactly)... If you really want the benefits of TF without the headache and unpredictability, your best bet if you want to hide/sort objects in a folder is to create your own product, subclass folder, and hack the dtml files in the product for the UI to only show what you want (perhaps putting everything else into another ZMI tab or something?). Transparent Folders work with either DTML Documents or Methods -- at least under Zope 2.4 & prior. I did a quick test, and it confirms that a DTML Method has exactly the same problem as a Document.
